One of my life highlights was getting to sit next to Rick Rizzs at a hotel bar and chat with him during my first full year traveling with the Mariners. He and Dave Niehaus were the reasons I always wanted to work in sports broadcasting. It won’t be the same without him.
I will never forgive the powers that be for ruining college sports. I can’t even force myself to care anymore about something that used to mean so much to me.

The thing about the Mariners is they may well half a strong second half and win the division and maybe even make a run in the playoffs, but even in their good years (aside from 2001), they rarely are fun to watch during the majority of the regular season.
