Lately I keep having Codex use computer use to do things that would be much easier via CLI.
Reminds me, that as things become easier, people, and i guess agents too, become dumber as a result.
Welcome to AGI
US AI labs want to slow down. But is that really because of the threat of recursive self-improvement (RSI), something which isn't even theoretically proven.
Or is it because training costs have hit a breaking point, and Chinese open source models are catching up quickly?
I think there are many reasons to be skeptical.
Just had Fable (on high in cursor) tell me it can't verify something locally, because some of my md files are stored in my prod db.
But they're not, they're stored in a public github repo.
People that aren't actually reading or understanding what the agent tells you, don't catch these things, so they think there's no reason to read anything anymore.
It would be the funniest outcome for sure.
If you told someone 1000 years ago we would have electricity, planes, rockets, phones and the internet, and unlimited food, they would probably think there weren’t enough jobs too.
Idk if he actually means it, but I think I’m team Bezos on this one.
Per cloudflare ceos recommendation to to Dario, I’ve been skimming parts of Aristotle’s politics.
So many insanely smart people miss something so obvious: technology progresses quickly, but human nature never changes.
We just launched Versus on NeetCode
Studying and being locked-in can get lonely - so we added a competitive mode where you can "duel" someone. You can either invite a friend or just queue and we will pair you with someone.
The first one to pass all test cases wins. There's also power ups to choose from. And a leaderboard.
I was worried that it would take too long to queue if not enough people use it, but we just launched last night and already have 500+ matches completed.
Avg queue time is < 2min.
Try it out and let us know what you think!
I got a chance to speak with @vasilios_s - he's a systems engineer with 15+ yoe. You may recognize him from his viral video, where he got laid off from Atlassian and supposedly "leaked the entire company architecture"
We talked about:
- Why companies lay off some of their most talented engineers
- Why he decided to make that video & the attention he's getting from companies because of it
- How Vasilios has gotten so far in his career without even having finished high school
- How to learn effectively and a bunch of other programming topics, like life at Atlassian & is Python effective for large projects
