I am in the middle of an accidental town hall meeting in Manchester in the UK. I came to a Lunch to which Peter Obi was invited. I found food I looked forward to deferred for questions on the trouble with Nigeria. Many of the questions suggest worry about the boldness of public officials in projecting rigging with results of elections of 2027 considered in the pocket. They were energized to ask for how they could own fighting rigging. The determination to do whatever will prevent election malpractice suggest we may see a civil war if power tries to muscle the will of the people this time.

The cowardly folks in Aso Rock know things are bad. They will loose. Out of fear and shame for their woeful performance, they have asked the President to hide and not participate in the campaigns #SoreLoosers - Their days are numbered. Get your PVC- Vote HE PO & Kwankwaso

NIGERIANS, OUR SENATE HAS OFFICIALLY BECOME A CONTINUUM! 😂😭 Imagine senators declaring that there is “no vacancy” in the Senate leadership before they have even contested and won their next elections. They are already fighting to secure positions in a Senate that has not even been constituted! And guys, the latest ridicule is even worse! 🤣🤣 Imagine fellow senators being mocked as people who will pass the motion simply because they are Tinubu’s children. Apparently, their colleagues believe they are so politically loyal to Tinubu that their votes are already decided before the debate even begins. Nigerians, pain comes in different levels. You will understand the kind of pain a rich man feels when his ego is bruised. It is not always about money; sometimes, it is about status, respect and the humiliation of being mocked by your own peers. These senators may be feeling the heat too, but what can they do? 🥲 Senate President, carry on! The seat is not vacant! 🥹 Nigerians, bring your popcorn because atapía-pia go plenty for the 11th Senate! 🍿😂😂

I was at a PVC collection venue today and I met no crowd nor queue. PVCs were ready in packs and even the officials there were wondering why people weren't coming for them. Elections are not won without PVCs. Let's not just make noise online alone. Please!!!

The 2027 General Election is non-negotiable. It is time for absolute vigilance. If we want real accountability, EVERY CITIZEN MUST KNOW: Every Resident Electoral Commissioner across all 36 States and the FCT, along with their immediate networks, families, and associates. Every University Professor acting as a Returning Officer, their academic institution, and their personal circles. Every INEC Commissioner operating at both state and national levels. We will be mounting guard on all fronts. There will be zero tolerance for subversion, compromise, or electoral fraud. If anyone attempts to manipulate the people's will, the consequences will be total, swift, and unavoidable. No excuses. No free passes.

Sometimes, when you consider the confidence of President Tinubu and people like Wike around him, you begin to ask yourself: is there anything they know that Nigerians don't know? Has this election been decided already, and nobody is telling us? Imagine a President who has an election to win telling Nigerians that he will not go everywhere with his campaign team to campaign for himself. Then Wike comes out and tells you that they have already decided the outcome and that 2027 has been settled. You begin to wonder: is this a psychological game designed to make the opposition feel defeated before the election, or are these people speaking from a position of knowledge that ordinary Nigerians do not have? Why would people who still have an election to contest speak with so much confidence, as though the outcome is already guaranteed? Is it mere political strategy to intimidate the opposition, or something Nigerians should be paying closer attention to? Shouldn't these statements concern every Nigerian who believes that elections should be competitive, transparent, and determined by the votes of the people? I am Ekene Aninze, Esq.

A group of armed robbers entered into a large compound because the security guard opened the gate for them. They robbed the occupants of the compound of their belongings. They raped some people, killed some people, and took a lot of valuable things. Some younger people in the compound had to jump the fence into nearby buildings for safety and to call for help. The armed robbers operated unhindered for hours and later decided to leave. On their way out, the leader of the gang called the rest and said they needed to loot more valuables since they were not being disturbed. "We can spend more time here since no one is disturbing us". A few people are calling for help outside. Those who lost a few valuables to the robbery are saying, "Thank God what we lost is not that much"; some families are saying, "They only rape us; they didn't take our money". The armed robbers are still meeting at the moment; they want to spend more time in the compound because it seems the occupants are not united in chasing them out.

Recently, VP Kashim Shettima took a swipe at @PeterObi referring to him as "the master of bourgeois statistics," because of his consistent comparison of Nigeria's parlous economy to Bangladesh's robust economy. VP Shettima has exhibited the denial mindset that has unceasingly hobbled the ruling APC government. The VP also showed a seeming lack of understanding that in comparative politics, effective comparative analysis of nations has higher credence and validity, if predicated on peer nations. Nigeria aligns well with Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia in that context. Had PO compared Nigeria to the U.S., Canada, Germany or China, he would have been accused of being unrealistic. Given the doldrums, which the APC government has successfully foisted on Nigeria, perhaps, VP Shettima will sleep better, if PO compared oil-rich Nigeria to oil-rich Venezuela, as the fate that has befallen Venezuela seems to be the model APC wants transplanted to Nigeria. Beyond both countries sharing several negative indices- oil-rich, but mired in insecurity, multi-dimensional poverty, bad leadership and corruption - there are other similarities and corrolaries that may justify comparing Nigeria to Venezuela rather than Bangladesh. Naturally, that will include the extant exit strategy for rogue and corrupt leaders. There are surely beneficial lessons Nigeria can draw from Venezuela, if Bangladesh seems farfetched, comparatively. Go figure.

ARISE NEWS RESPONSE TO INEC LAGOS STATEMENT Arise News has received a press statement from INEC Lagos State categorically denying our report aired this morning on What's Trending and stating that the display of the Register of Voters was conducted across all two hundred and forty-five registration areas in Lagos State including Alimosho and Shomolu. We take note of INEC's response and we respect the commission's right to provide its own account. However, Arise News stands by its report. Our findings were based on independent on-ground verification not social media posts or unverified claims. At the time of our confirmation on Tuesday, the INEC portal displayed a message stating there are currently no preliminary registers to display. In the Alimosho area, our investigation revealed the register was strictly available on request between 9AM and 3PM and residents were only allowed to check for their own names which falls short of the open public display required under Section 19 of the Electoral Act. Arise News acknowledges that INEC may have since rectified the situation and we welcome that. But the issues we reported were real and the public deserves to know. We remain committed to responsible accurate and independent journalism and we call on INEC to ensure that every Nigerian in every ward has full and open access to the voters' register as required by law not access by request, access by right!

A litre of fuel in Libya costs ₦32, while the minimum wage in the country is $208, which is roughly ₦276,000. In Saudi Arabia, a litre of fuel costs approximately ₦823, while the estimated monthly minimum wage is ₦1.4 million. Norway, another oil-producing country, provides its citizens with numerous benefits funded by the proceeds from its oil revenues. In Nigeria, however, the minimum wage is ₦70,000, while a litre of fuel costs between ₦1,300 and ₦1,900 in some places. That minimum wage amounts to a mere $52, a young chap flipping burgers at McDonald's in the US makes more than a Nigerian bank manager. Anyone earning ₦100,000 a month in Nigeria is still struggling to make ends meet and may be closer to the poverty line than their counterparts in these countries. But does the President care? How does he even sleep at night, knowing that millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive in a country blessed with abundant natural resources?
