Mecklenburg County Superior Court Judge Reggie E. McKnight sentenced 29-year-old Q'Laundra Hood to 16–29 months suspended with only 30 days active jail time after fatally striking runner Lance Sotelo and fleeing the scene in Charlotte.
Despite the crash ending a 25-year-old man's life, the court waived all fines and costs, ordering just $765 in restitution.
Q'Laundra Hood had to pay $765 for killing a man and fleeing the scene.

NEW: I’ve obtained a note to the Black Political Caucus from its former chair Colette Forrest on why the BPC should fully back embattled CMS School Board Chair Stephanie Sneed. In the scathing message, Forrest leaves no doubt why she thinks the BPC should back Sneed: because she’s black. She goes after other black CMS board members for not supporting Sneed.
Forrest said “As a Black Elected, you do not publicly swipe at a fellow Black Elected. As a Black Elected, you know how hard it is to elect Blacks to public office, shame on you.”
For context and accuracy to her statement, it should be noted that every leadership position in CLT is held by a black person. Some were appointed, most were elected.
