Our new @AMJPublicHealth editorial with Ariela Schachter @ArielaSchachter and Neda Maghbouleh @nedasoc on the need to collect and disaggregate self-Identification data for Middle Eastern and North African Americans. #MENA
A new @AMJPublicHealth editorial by Prof. @nedasoc highlights how the absence of a #MENA category in federal data has hidden disparities within the community, making the collection of self-identified data key to addressing health & social inequalities. buff.ly/3NVNjF3

If you are a sociologist who does research in Africa, please comment here or DM me. I'm trying to gather a list together at least for an informal network for mutual support/intellectual community, maybe official "interest group" subsection of ASA.

🚨New Pub, my first solo-author I might add ☺️ It took years to find a framing that did justice to the empirical case and really, the experiences of families who engage in the stressful process of bonding a loved one out of jail. I think I landed on something I can be proud of.

Our new paper shows how restrictive abortion policies can increase infant mortality. Some— but not all— of the increase we found was likely due to forced continuation of pregnancies with known lethal congenital anomalies. Absolutely heartbreaking study to work on.
Breaking: Infant Deaths After Texas’ 2021 Ban on Abortion in Early Pregnancy | Women's Health | JAMA Pediatrics. Hats off to the JHU team. Our team has a similar study that we will now preprint that confirms this. A crucial and horrific finding. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
