Do I know any writers who live in New Delhi, Lahore or a city with similar air quality issues? Looking for someone to opine about what it's like to live under the persistent threat of poor air quality.

#StarExclusive: Canada has seen a steep rise in hate toward South Asians on social media in recent years, with a large spike occurring during the recent federal election — especially aimed at former NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, according to a new report. trib.al/8OBZZl3

Instead of giving in to Drake, Jagmeet Singh should have copied this leader instead.

In the wake of that bonkers AI-generated reading list that circulated last month, I asked Canadian authors, poets and illustrators to recommend one piece of fiction they recommend reading this summer.

A question for residents of other cities across Canada and the U.S.: how much is a small treat like a hot dog or an ice cream where you are? Trying to figure out if Toronto is more expensive

In dealing with density, Toronto is unique. It’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the world, building around a mostly postwar design.
Some ideas for better vertical living that we can borrow from other cities in my latest for @TorontoStar:

That was a lovely exchange.
Challenging questions are welcome, as long as they are not propaganda-driven. And intelligent people, do not amplify propaganda.
Thank you, Adrian.
My new @ricochet_en podcast “In Bed with the Elephant” featuring a conversation w/@FranceskAlbs @UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories. We talk about #genocide in #Gaza, allegations she’s anti-Semitic and her own personal journey. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcas…
This is my periodic contribution to the hellsite now: getting mad every few months about how easy it is to come across explicit racism on X and how awful things are and resenting the fact that a lot of smart/interesting people continue to post here (hence my logging on!)
It's a lot more accurate to say that "a lot of what this site is now" is that Twitter has been like this for a solid couple of years and people are still bemoaning it like this is new, or that there are no options. no-one is holding a gun to your head?

Delved into my long-standing disappointment with 'diversity' initiatives, and my alarm at its dismantling and delegitimization.
"Diversity, I said, is not decoration. If it’s not challenging deeply entrenched power, diversity is only serving it."
What is the modern anti-DEI backlash really about?
The short answer? Resegregation and white supremacy—and it’s up to the media to set aside its skittishness and name it. thewalrus.ca/dei-was-always-…
