As I watch the Afghan evacuations, I remember being left behind in Iran in 1979, when everybody I knew fled the country at a time of revolution and war. My twin brother and I were 6 years old. This is the story of what happened after everybody left:

Behind every story of "self-made" success is a group of unsung heroes who cleared obstacles and created opportunities. We all need sponsors to open doors and mentors to open minds. Few things matter more in life than knowing people who are willing to take a chance on us.

if you can’t protest, donate. if you can’t donate, speak up in your own communities. if you can’t do that, then consider yourself part of the problem. make a change.

But now is not the time to remain silent. We value empathy and solidarity. We condemn the senseless violence against Black people and we condemn White supremacy. Here is what our CEO @stewart posted last week:

Thread: The Orientalizing of Moulana Rumi Many of you may be familiar with the 'Rumi quotes' that circulate the internet. What if I told you the vast majority of them are fake and they are part of a project to secularize Rumi? This isn't a whatsapp conspiracy.

This pandemic has affected us all, and especially service industry workers. To help, a few pals and I created a site where impacted service industry workers can input their Venmo and those looking to give back can see a random person to fund. Please share! forkover.club

Like everyone, Jen & I have been looking for ways to help. We’ve been making some donations but want to give additional encouragement for all the ❤️ action we’ve already seen. So: I’ll match donations 5:1 (so, $5 for every $1 people send in) up to $1M for the orgs below. [Thread]

We’ve created a simpler, tidier Slack. It's pretty neat and, starting today, it will be rolling out to Slack users over the next few weeks. slackhq.com/simpler-more-org…

Introducing a simpler, more organized Slack

Slack is where work flows. It's where the people you need, the information you share, and the tools you use come together to get things done.

If you’re working on #COVID19 research, response, or mitigation and @slackhq can help in any way, email [email protected]. Free upgrades to paid plans, setting up a consultation for remote collaboration best practices: we got you. Even socially distant, we’re all in this together.

Globally, 91% of men and 86% of women show bias against women. 40 and 50% of people think men make better business and political leaders. Nearly 30% think it's ok for men to beat their wives. What century is this?! #IWD2020 #InternationalWomensDay cnbc.com/2020/03/06/united-n…

Men are not the only ones biased against women, UN study finds

Even amid the push for global gender equality, sexist attitudes continue to undermine progress — and what's more, almost all of us are guilty of that, according to the United Nations' new report.

“Firefall” at Horsetail Fall in Yosemite National Park, California, looks like a scene from a fantasy movie. But, it is an ordinary waterfall, which is illuminated by the sunset, that gives it a fiery glow.
