Yesterday, I joined the ribbon-cutting for the expansion of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta. I was honored to help open the new Freedom Classroom, named in recognition of Norfolk Southern’s steadfast support for the Center's expansion.
This space will help students and visitors explore the history of the civil and human rights movements. Proud to see Norfolk Southern supporting efforts to preserve and share this vital history.

Today we announced a historic agreement to combine with @UnionPacific to create America’s first transcontinental railroad.
Together we will unleash the strength of our nation’s economy and preserve union jobs. The combined company will aim to be the safest railroad in North America, ensuring every team member goes home safe to their families and advancing Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern’s proven technologies for further safety improvements.

As a member of the Georgia Statewide Human Trafficking Taskforce, I applaud the strong stance against those who prey on our most vulnerable.
Replying to @GovKemp
Keeping Georgians safe is my top priority. That’s why the budget that goes into effect today builds on our work to protect their communities and businesses while taking more criminals off the streets!
I’m proud to be an American. Thank you to our brave military for making this the land of the free. #Army250 💪🏾🇺🇸
As I mentioned nearly a year ago, political violence or the potential for it in these times should be concerning. The assassination of a state legislator in Minnesota yesterday underscores the danger. Tough penalties for those that target public officials or their families.
I am deeply concerned about the political violence in this country - Gabby Giffords, Steve Scalise, Paul Pelosi, Donald Trump not to mention the federal judges including members of the Supreme Court targeted. The Congress should think about creating a task force on political violence and devote more resources to law enforcement to protect leaders and more resources to DOJ to investigate and prosecute threats.

The next great threat won’t always come with tanks and missiles.
It’ll come through cyber attacks, stolen data, and infrastructure breaches.
Building a safer future means investing in cybersecurity today — and making sure law enforcement has the tools to fight back.
Cybercrime scams cost Americans nearly $16 billion last year, with older adults hit hardest. @MacFarlaneNews looks at a new FBI report warning that artificial intelligence is fueling more sophisticated schemes, including one that cost a Vietnam veteran $1.7 million.

Represented indigent defendants.

Jessica and I served together as colleagues in the US Attorney’s Office for EDVA. Well said, Senator. She was a devoted public servant in the finest tradition of the Department. She will be sorely missed.
My prayers are with Jessica Aber’s loved ones. Jessica was an exceptional public servant who dedicated her life to serving her fellow Virginians. She will be deeply missed.
