And the cherry on top for the grand finale🍒: can we engineer other NLRs to gain Pwl2 recognition? We introduced the predicted Pwl2 binding interface of MLA3 into the rye NLR SR50--🥁The engineered version of SR50 now responds to *both* AvrSr50 AND Pwl2. How cool is that?!😎12/15

I am *beyond thrilled* to have the work from my PhD finally out!! 💫
We found that MLA3, a plant immune receptor, mimics a virulence target of Magnaporthe oryzae to set a trap for this fungus and trigger disease resistance. How cool is that?! 🤓

Question: when does SAVE not mean save? Answer, when you’re using CANVAS! In CANVAS, “save” means only save everything you’ve already saved, but throw away everything you’ve already “saved” if you don’t hit save again! @Canvas_by_Inst

This work was led by grad student @autpeterson and research scientist Tony Burnetti, and we had help from @GaTechMicrobes' Carina Baskett.
Just how many predatory journals are out there? I’ve been blocking spam from them daily for the past month and still I get about 10 requests/day for submissions…

Recent survey using Scopus database revealed that Univ. Federal de Viçosa (UFV) is doing OK regarding publications. Much better than bigger agricultural-research institutions. @ufvbr ranks #2 among "non-statewide" federal institutions located in non-capital cities.
