Hillel Neuer op-ed for @thedispatch: “I have dealt with Navi Pillay in Geneva since she arrived here as the UN human rights chief. Over 18 years, I watched her turn the language of universal rights into a weapon aimed relentlessly at the Jewish state.”

PROFESSOR JUDEA PEARL: FROM TRAGEDY TO PURPOSE
Judea Pearl: From Tragedy to Purpose Is peace with the Palestinians ever possible? What would it take? In this episode of The State of Affairs, Avi Abraham Benlolo speaks with Professor Judea Pearl about Jewish identity, antisemitism and the meaning of coexistence. Reflecting on the murder of his son, journalist Daniel Pearl, in 2002, he explores how profound loss shaped his commitment to dialogue and confronting hatred. His book, Coexistence and Other Fighting Words, anchors a discussion of Zionophobia, Israel and the barriers to peace. The conversation examines challenges on university campuses, the importance of defending Jewish identity and what honest dialogue requires—a powerful exploration of remembrance, moral courage and the determination to turn tragedy into purpose. @yudapearl

Dear reader,
If you are as busy as the rest of us, and can't find the time to read "Coexistence" cover to cover, don't miss two key chapters:
1. Timeline of Key Moments in the History of the Jewish People: ucla.in/3SzYndp
2. Glossary of Key Terms: ucla.in/4c80SuvAnd
Then go back to read selected chapters of: bayes.cs.ucla.edu/COEXISTENC…
Replying to @LargeWlarge63
I mean the historical symbolic meaning of Israel which is common to both religious and secular Jews, namely, the restoration of Jewish normalcy.
See Glossary of Key Terms:

Looks like the New York Times missed a keffiyeh in their photo of the French protests.
Don't worry, they still cropped out every single Palestinian flag.

Every single word!
Juan Carlos Girauta Vidal, a Spanish lawyer, writer, and Member of the European Parliament👇
“You did not listen to Israel — the vanguard of the West in the face of barbarism. You chose instead to condemn its right to self-defense, whitewash its terrorist enemies, deny the horrific crimes of October 7, and spread lies about genocide. Today, those who are destroying European cities are waving the Palestinian flag.”

“Palestine was stolen by Jews in 1948”
Then they show you:
• Jewish banks & stores in the 1940s
• Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 1925
• Tel Aviv being founded, 1908
• Jewish farmers in Zikhron Yaakov, 1890
• Jewish settlers in the 1880s
• Jews of Jerusalem, 1834
And British Mandate stamps that literally say “Land of Israel” in Hebrew.
How exactly do you “steal” something you’ve lived in, built, and owned for centuries?
History isn’t a slogan.

Why are the New York Times, CNN, and BBC working overtime to make sure not a single Palestinian flag makes it into their photo coverage of the French protests?

The line I like most reads: 'Never in the history of nations has a society defined itself on the ruins of its neighbor, and never has such a society sought recognition while admitting its intent.' Help me transmit it to Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, to Palestinian 'technocrats' in Gaza and, not least, to @barakobama in Dublin and @NYCMayor in Mamdanistan. @AkaLazarus @RachelGur

This is Amit Soussana. Hamas terrorists brutally beat her, tied her up and dragged her away from her home into Gaza.
For 55 days, she lived through hell.
She was chained by her ankle in a darkened children's bedroom for weeks, forced to ask permission just to use the bathroom.
Her captor repeatedly groped her and questioned her about her menstrual cycle.
Then he pointed a gun at her forehead and sexually violated her at gunpoint.
She was moved between hiding places, beaten and terrorized.
After her release, Amit became the first Israeli hostage to publicly describe in detail the sexual abuse she suffered in Hamas captivity.
Where was the UN? Where was the Red Cross?
Where was the outrage when Israeli women were being sexually assaulted?
Amit survived 55 days of Hamas captivity and made sure the world heard what they did to her.
Share her story and follow!

Hebrew is the only language in human history that was fully revived from a liturgical “dead” language into the everyday native tongue of millions.
In 1881, Eliezer Ben-Yehuda arrived in Ottoman Jerusalem determined to make Hebrew spoken again. He and his wife created the first modern Hebrew-speaking household. Their son, Itamar Ben-Avi, became the first native speaker of modern Hebrew in centuries. Ben-Yehuda also built a massive dictionary and coined hundreds of new words for modern life.
By 1922 the British Mandate recognized Hebrew as an official language.
Today more than 9 million people speak it daily.

In view of recent polls showing that Palestinians are in favor of a "two state proposal", it occured to me that identical results were obtained already in 2005, and my reaction was in an article (published in Riyadh) titled "The Postage Stamp Question: A Key to Peace in Palestine" (chp. 6 of Coexistence)

In fact it summarizes the whole conflict in two words "postage stamp".

Fareed Zakaria's misreading of Oct. 7.
A friend called my attention to Zakaria's analysis: cnn.com/newsletters/global-b…
My comments:
-------------------------------------------------
Fareed's problem: he hasn't read Coexistence and, therefore, he is mistaking a war of prevention to a war of revenge and conflates polls showing "Palestinians say they want two-states" with "Palestinians want peace".
I tweeted about it here xitter.cf/yudapearl/status/21063…

On this day three years ago I ran to a bomb shelter as Hamas attacked. I predicted how the UN would do nothing until Israel responded—and then accuse Israel of war crimes and racism. But I failed to imagine they would declare “genocide” and fuel a global tsunami of Jew hatred.
War has been launched against Israel today by the Palestinians from Gaza. I’m sitting now in a bomb shelter in Jerusalem, where I’ve come to visit for the High Holidays. Over 5,000 rockets were fired into Israel already this morning.
And this part is unprecedented: Palestinian terrorists from Gaza also infiltrated into Israeli towns and reportedly slaughtered civilians and abducted hostages.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad, funded by the Islamic Republic of Iran, know that the world will do nothing — until Israel responds by targeting the terrorists and their infrastructure.
Then the U.N. Human Rights Council will spring into action, and accuse Israel of war crimes and racism. This incentivizes the terrorists, granting them a global propaganda victory.
It’s what they’ve done repeatedly, like after the last war in May 2021. The UNHRC created a permanent commission of inquiry to target Israel. They made Navi Pillay the chair, after she already declared Israel to be a racist and inhuman war criminal.
Sadly, Pillay is being cheered on by some in the West. On October 21st, at Fordham University in New York, she will receive an “Outstanding Achievement Award” from the American Branch of the International Law Association. Shame on you, @ABILA_official.
