Nexus nights are for casual players.
Real competitors play testing sessions to get the real testing. With a game as cheap as riftbound you can definitely spare to play a lower power deck to grow the community.
Winning isnt everything. Sometimes doing the cool thing is fun
Just about every person at my nexus night brings a meta deck. The new people that play who bring their home brews or fun decks i have heard say one of two things:
“that’s insane i know what im building next.”
Or
“this sucks that’s not fun to play against”
BUT the next week when they show up to this 1v1 format game i see the viktor player main boarding triple salvage for me playing Aurora or the teemo player main boarding triple decree just for the kennen match & they still decide to come back because again, this game is a 1v1 play your heart out game.
The MAIN objective of the game is to win.
The main IDEOLOGY to have WHILE playing is to have fun.
If you’re having a good time while winning or having a good time even if you’re losing then that’s a bonus.
Last night my teemo opponent unfortunately got paired into me playing riven but we both laughed the whole way through as she was a newer player and i helped her through her actions, answered any question that she had and bumped fists at the end because we had a great time playing Riftbound even if my meta slop won.
HOW you play against your opponent is also incredibly important. No one wants to sit across from someone unpleasant and you can turn even the worst matches into an enjoyable experience.
I dont agree with gatekeeping what someone decides to bring to a nexus night.
Play Riven. Play kennen. Play Aurora.
This isn’t commander.

I am so immensely disappointed by the timeline on this decision @riftboundop.
I have played hundreds/over a thousand hours of Leblanc for the sole intention of winning every best of I can. I have never once registered with the intention of winning an event. Every event I have ever won/done well has been a byproduct of my ambition to secure a best-of status for my girl.
I understand the anti-collusion efforts, and I even agree with some of the decision. The timeline is unreal. I have 3 weeks before Stuttgart to figure out what I’m doing.
I want this to be the pinnacle of competitive Riftbound and now I question if it will be. There is such a distinct advantage given to those who have been playing S tier legends for months and months. People have spent so many hours working on Set 1 legends again. We were looking at what could potentially be one of the most diverse and interesting formats ever. Now it’s going to be 4 decks.
I’m actually speechless.
Idk if I have ever seen worse targeting. It takes effort to go shoulder straight down into the grass.

I think one of the greatest mistakes LSS has done is discontinuing the banners.
There is a good chance *random store on twitter* received these and are still up. But instead of getting new ones, they sit on the walls for years.
The problem is that it makes the game look dead
4) make a real reprint set or start rotation - stores can't sell product for a game if they first need 1000 investment in staples.
What I want, as a long time player and store is not to keep my investment. I want new faces!
This isn't super hard and I believe it's possible to reignite the local player base.
Make packs fun again! Make the game cheaper! Make the investment into stores to grab people's attention!
American market is "dying" rn and it's not to late to save it ❤️

Good games frequently have a "Set 1" problem. They put a TON of time on a good set to launch the game which usually makes cards overtuned and hard to replicate on a healthy level.
If every person that left thinly veiled hate towards @MantenFAB showed up to callings the game would be saved.
