I remember this day clearly, I was working at Facebook HQ in Palo Alto on a project for a few weeks when the news dropped. I don't recall anyone describing it as stupid, but I can specifically recall the general buzz of confusion, the hushed conversations over slices of pizza at the lunch benches by the yellow brick road in the courtyard. One billion dollars.
Zuck must have been in his late twenties and with his newly created platform for public criticism pointed directly back at him, he got his head down and dropped a billion on an app most people had never heard of. What an absolute Chad.
