Marc Theermann & team at @dynamicreatures, someone should get in touch with @alexandr_wang and @Muse to create a Muse character robot, powered by Muse. Need one in time for next Christmas. No finder's fee needed, just send me the fist one. =)

Lesson learned the hard way after many years in tech: Never launch a new feature or promotion on a Friday. You usually have a reduced staff and so does any support teams at other partners that you rely upon.

Sam Altman on one of the highest-return years of his career: no job, exploring his interests, and a lot of people who were nice enough to teach him things. "I read many dozens of textbooks. I learned about fields that I had been interested in. I didn't have any idea that they were all gonna come together in the way they did." "I learned a lot about nuclear engineering. AI was starting to work, so I learned a lot about AI. I learned about synthetic biology. I learned about investing." " I met people that were working on all sorts of different things who were nice enough to talk to me." "If I met someone interesting and it seemed good and needed help, I would just help them. And they would teach me stuff, or they would offer me the chance to invest in their startup later." "Out of all of it, almost all of it didn't work out. But the seeds were planted for things that worked in deep ways later." @sama w/ @CraigCannon (Nov 2018)

Forget Super Intelligence. Let's just skip right to Ludicrous Intelligence (LI). Or better yet, just skip right to Plaid. Plaid Intelligence (PI).

I realize we have an entire generation that missed Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's "tech venture," LivePlanet, which started as a company they bought from me way back in the dot com era. They're seeing Ben talk intelligently about AI on JRE @joeroganhq and are surprised. But, he's had an interest in tech for a long time. Back then, it was fun seeing my former company's name on the cover of Fortune going through the checkout line at the grocery store. =) Hard to believe it's been 25 years!

Seasoned founders in the age of intelligence are aging like fine wine
The founder in their 40s with taste and discernment is the new gentleman unicorn founder Because there can be 100x to 1000x of them working at their beck and call via agents and software factories all the time

That's no moon! My son and I captured a Tie Fighter... I mean... the International Space Station, crossing in front of the Sun. Couldn't help but think it looks like a Tie Fighter, or more specifically, a Tie Interceptor. So, of course, I had to add some sound effects and overdramatic music. =) The ISS is moving at 28,000 km/h and is 400 km high, so it transits the Sun in only .55 seconds--the video is slowed down to 5% speed. Have to be at the right spot on Earth at that exact moment to capture it. Our little smart telescope continues to Amaze, Amaze!

Good to hear.
YC is absolutely YC for 35+ founders. We fund many founders in that bracket every batch and will continue to. If you want to build a huge fast-growing company alongside a peer group of the most ambitious people in the planet, you should apply to YC regardless of age. If your team seems awesome and serious we will want to talk to you.

It's just a tiny moving dot, but I was very excited that I got to take my first images of an asteroid! Asteroid 1997 NC1 is about the size of a skyscraper, and it made a relatively close pass by Earth over the weekend, coming within 1.5 million miles. It was the closest this asteroid has come to Earth in 400 years, and it won't be this close again for another 100 years. I was bummed because we had heavy marine layer cloud cover here in SoCal on Friday and Saturday night. Sunday night started out the same, but then a miraculous break in the clouds came around midnight, and I was able to capture it for about an hour before the thick clouds returned. And this is with heavy light pollution here in Irvine, along with a nearly full moon drowning out the stars. I continue to be amaze, amaze at how good my little Dwarf 3 AI telescope is. It took some doing to keep it pointed at the target, and there was a bit of a gap where it was pointed in the wrong spot for about 15 mins, but otherwise, very cool. Ps: I suggest watching this video on a computer screen as watching it on a mobile phone doesn't do it justice, it's just too small.

Amen, preach it.
After investing in 20+ companies, the most impactful first hire I've seen a founder make is a growth hacker type person who can figure out distribution. B2B: linkedin, events, AI outbound, AEO, blogs, long form writing, YouTube, webinars, X, influencers B2C: AI UGC, organic TikTok, paid social, events, influencer, sponsorships This person can literally take a company from 0 to $5M ARR by hacking the channels.

One unexpected pattern when studying the lives of geniuses is that many were completely unremarkable in their 20s. The breakthroughs came much later. Dyson was 46 when his first vacuum came out, Henry Ford was 40 when he started Ford Motors, and Sam Walton was 44 when he opened the first Walmart. The average age of a unicorn founder in the US at incorporation is 42. By the standards of today’s “30-under-30” culture, most of these late bloomers would have been written off long before they did the thing that made them famous. The unremarkable years waiting for the breakthrough were spent building the relevant technical skills and pattern recognition. You cannot compress the ordinary years required to birth genius..

Lots of potential for ongoing disruption with AI, robotics, and onshoring the production stack in the space tech industry. Spent some time talking with builders at @spacetechexpo in Anaheim. Many of these companies have been around for decades and don't seem to be moving fast enough to integrate physical AI and robotics into everything they do. Caught a demo from a provider of specialized hardware/software and asked, "Why aren't you running this data through AI? Seems like a natural fit?" The guy said, "Yeah, I know, we're working on it. We should expect to see it in a year or two." After picking up my jaw off the floor, I said, "My friend, you and I could probably whip up a decent prototype using Claude Code over the weekend." He just laughed. I can see why the newer space companies are growing fast, and startups are garnering all the attention and VC investment. They are leapfrogging the established companies.

As a screenwriter, when I put stuff like this in screenplays based on my 20+ years of experience in tech, Hollywood readers will give me notes like, "You need to take that part out. That would never happen." 🤣🤣🤣 Truth is usually stranger than fiction.
