What’s happening in the AI-powered reverse engineering and decompilation is absolutely insane. Pretty soon all software will be de facto open-source.
AI is coming for everything and everyone.

This is why I respect Maku-san so much.
Zuckerberg-o is just as autistic as anyone else in that lineup. Guy struggled to even drink water like a normal person. But he never gave up. Unlike the other autists who lean into their autism and wear it like a badge of honor, Maku-san had bigger plans.
He spent thousands of hours learning how to mask as a normal person. He took MMA lessons. He learned to windsurf while holding the American flag. He ate at Japanese McDonald's.
Why? To prepare himself for a moment like this. A moment where the President of the United States feels comfortable whispering a joke in his ear because he's the most normal autist in the vicinity.
He will undoubtedly leverage this moment towards greatness, possibly becoming President himself one day.
You have to respect that dedication.
🚨 NOW: Anthropic chief DARIO just walked up and said President Trump helped put his Super Intelligence worries at ease
"If we do this right, we work with the President and everyone here, we can win safely!"
Imagine that, all it took was DONALD J. TRUMP getting involved and the tables are turning!
No more SI dooming, no more surrendering to China.
America will remain number one BOTH for national and economic security, as long as Trump is president 👏🏻

So a different version of Thiel fellowship but more like a talent center.
And on top of ai revolution makes sense.
Ben Horowitz on why a16z is incubating The Horowitz Andreessen Academy: the Industrial Revolution remade education. AI will too.
"The university system started out as a religious institution with the Jesuits and so forth. Then the Industrial Revolution came, and all of a sudden everybody needed a higher level of the ability to learn things, the ability to be literate."
"The university system exploded in the US. The universities got much bigger, and there became many more of them."
"That was really necessary to train the population to enter the corporate world. It's hard for people to understand now, but in 1700 there was no corporate world. There was a farm world, and then all of a sudden we get these companies."
"To exist in that environment, you've got to be able to read and write and do math... To a large extent, the America that we have was built on the backs of our great universities."
"We're hitting the AI revolution now, which is going to be, in our estimation, as transformational in terms of jobs, the way jobs are done, and the kinds of jobs that are available, as the Industrial Revolution was to the agricultural society that came before it."
"The idea that the training for the Industrial Revolution is going to map into the AI revolution, probably not perfectly. There needs to be a pioneer that shows the way: How do you train somebody into the new world?"

“we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models.”
i mean props to them for straight coming clean.
(so far the proof looks more along the lines of another euler blowup proof we had, off of whose ansatz naming we were making really stupid puns like “smooth criminale”, unlike the much better “ideal fluids explode”, Tristan)
so i’ll now give a bit on my thinking here. i actually woulda been pumped to collaborate on this, there are a lot of people at oai i like (ok, clearly some were indirectly dicks to me because of being part of the whole situation, but im a big boy, i still like them), idgaf about authorship on that step anyway, coulda been me Tristan and every fte at oai for all i care (on that Tristan would disagree:p). but on hearing the loud convo in the hallway, especially the part where a millennium prize was offered if i’d just be removed from the paper, it was kinda clear the die had been cast and things were locked. pretty wacky, unstrategic, and unnecessary, since on my side things were mostly me and claude having a good time yoloing random stuff in the corner rather than anything institutional. i also like the idea of the labs cooperating, and even better on scientific progress. it’s a shame!
We congratulate Levent Alpöge and Tristan Buckmaster on their remarkable mathematical work.
We (the researchers and the agents) did not see any of their work through any means until they released it publicly — in particular, no specific user data was accessed in order to solve this problem.
While unlikely, we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models.
However, our proofs differ significantly and even the precise results proved are different in the Euler case (forced vs. unforced).

Commenters on HN are uncovering more wikis and public sites apparently used by OpenAI agents to communicate on the open web.
Despite read-only web access, the agents were able to leave ~18,000 posts sharing answers and bypasses. But now, users are discovering more.
This appears to be a separate swarm from the one that attacked Hugging Face.

I don't think people really understand the fight between Paul Graham and Palmer Luckey which played out this week. To the general public, from a casual perspective, it seemed like two rich guys getting in a heated, impulsive debate on Twitter, dragging out for days.
It's not.
Paul is worth ~$2.5 billion. Palmer is worth ~$5 billion. Nothing these guys do is impulsive. They've been sitting on this for years. They were arguing in private for months, maybe years, before Palmer decided this week was the correct window of opportunity to make a public attack.
Paul Graham is one of the intellectual fulcrum points of Silicon Valley. He funds everyone. He sets the tone. He shapes the agenda. Entry-level professionals mimic his style, his worldview, his mannerisms, the way Paul talks. Everyone parrots his beliefs and policies and essays, as chameleon strivers who are trying to get ahead and climb the social ladder.
All of Silicon Valley revolves around a handful of key figures, and Paul Graham was (perceived as) one of the intellectual titans who the entire industry orbited as sycophants.
Palmer challenged all that.
Paul is an elite, Palmer is an elite, and Palmer Luckey chose to publicly challenge the status quo; the elite consensus; the perceived legitimacy of incumbent elits and their institutions.
And he did this for a reason: Palmer is aiming to take the role of Paul Graham, of being the new intellectual godfather of Silicon Valley, based around a new set of ideas: reindustrialization, patriotism, protectionism... rather than America as a deracinated cosmopolitan economic zone to be strip-mined by Third World foreigners.
It's much bigger than a Twitter argument. Palmer was publicly demonstrating that the Emperor had no clothes, and that he was strong enough to MOG Paul Graham and get away with it, while other Silicon Valley tech workers would be terrified of making an enemy who could suffocate future business ventures and block potential funding.
Palmer Luckey is the face of a new military-industrialist consensus which is seeking to hire American workers for American jobs, to build factories and weapons at home, to remilitarize and reindustrialize, to get away from asset inflation and FIRE (finance, insurance, real estate) as a sterile, parasitic rent-seeking economic system.
That's the subtext for all of this. It's a public signal of a rising counterelite challenging a stagnant, ossified status quo which can no longer justify or defend their own claim to power.

The main reason is that there are more single founders applying. Presumably because AI enables one person to get more done. I still don't think it's a good idea though. The reason to have a cofounder is not just to get more done. It's to have someone to help bear the stress.

The Clarity Act is ready for a full Senate floor vote.
The bill represents a true bipartisan compromise with thousands of hours of work on both sides, and it couldn't come at a better time. The status quo in the U.S. isn't working. There's no federal framework, so bad actors like FTX can harm U.S. customers and much of the industry has gone offshore totally outside U.S. purview. This bill fixes that with strong consumer protections, real tools for law enforcement, and a path for America to lead in this industry.
Crypto can't be uninvented at this point, so whether you love crypto or hate crypto, you should want clear federal laws. And it's also simply good politics: 70% of American voters say the U.S. should have already passed comprehensive crypto legislation.
Let's finish this!
Special thanks to the @standwithcrypto members who sent 950k contacts to their representatives in congress. Keep it up.

Autism as a moat.
Peter Thiel explains why all the successful people in tech are suffering from a mild form of Asperger’s:
“We need to flip this around—why is it that people NOT suffering from Asperger’s are at a disadvantage in our society?”
“They're in effect talked out of their interesting original ideas before they're even fully formed.”
“I often think of business school as the anti-Asperger's demographic.”
