Have you thought about how software impacts your research? Do you already use research software or develop scripts in your day-to-day work? Do you want to make your scientific workflow open and accessible to people in and outside of your research group?
If this sounds like you, then you may be interested in the URSSI summer school we’re organizing July 29-August 02 at UIUC, which brings together open science and research software engineering.

This is a wonderful achievement, and I'm so honored to have been a part of Amanda's journey here at UIUC. Congratulations Dr. Bachmann! 💜

How can I not be filled with joy when I get to work with such passionate students????
You know that moment when you can feel yourself starting to geek out about something, but you can't stop yourself?
That was me, not two days ago (and just now talking with @munkium) talking about the Low Level Radioactive Waste Policy Act of 1980. 🧵 1/

Good morning everyone!! My name is Bella Pequette and I am a sophomore in nuclear engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Today I’ll be taking you all on a #DITL of an undergrad in nuclear engineering. Here are some pictures of Urbana this morning!
We have an exciting class today for Modeling Nuclear Energy Systems. @amanda_bachmann is guest lecturing on the nuclear fuel cycle!!!

Hear me out: no we don't
We need @elonmusk trying to do to fission power what he did to rocketry and cars, pull them out of a deep expensive stagnant rut, not having him fall into social media and building cell phones.

A BOOlean tribute to #Halloween! Boolean logic, invented by George Boole in 1854, explains how ones and zeroes combine to perform arithmetic and logical operations. It is the basis of modern electronic computing. @SIGCIS @ibm @TheOfficialACM @vcfed

In my sub-field of nuclear physics, nuclei are just tools - things we smash apart to use as dense, extended sources of quarks and gluons.
But in “low-energy” nuclear physics, the nucleus itself is the object of study. ⚛️
Here are my favorite nuclear structure factoids: 🧵(0/5)

Be diligent and check your child's candy this year, just found an invasive silver carp shoved inside a Milky Way. No words.

Our free MOOC on machine learning with @scikit_learn is happening again.
It's recognized as a both didactic and non trivial way to get started in machine learning. It teaches hands on coding, but also statistical understanding required for data science.
#ScikitLearnMooc, a free Machine Learning course taught by @scikit_learn core developers and #opensource! Accessible to anybody with basic #Python programming skills. Course starts on Oct. 18.

Python and coffee?! I can't imagine a better ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡talk!!!
Thanks to @munkium and @Mbussonn I already have my #SciPy2023 lightning talk planned out: analysis of filter coffee techniques using Python (while making a Hario v60 on stage). It is sure to be full of #ChaoticEnergy!
