A 26-year-old pickup just sold for $20,300. Upper Salford Fire Company in PA retired its 2000 Ford F-250 7.3 Powerstroke, a former traffic unit with only 35,000 miles. It drew 32 bids, and the money goes back to the fire company.

Ken Johnson needed a diesel to tow the family boat. He found a 2001 Chevy 3500 on Municibid, retired by Cranberry Township's volunteer fire department. His theory: "Firefighters have a little bit more pride in their equipment." His daughter got a firehouse tour at pickup.

A 1993 Zamboni with a blown engine still drew 22 bids. County of Armstrong in Kittanning, PA sold it for $525, and the money goes back to the county. Somebody out there has plans for it.
