Even for the Telegraph this is disgusting. Just another demonstration of the fact that Islamophobia is widely accepted in “polite” society
Some one told me that Alastair Campbell and the other guy on The Rest is Politics go on a bit about out Peter Malinauskas as a template for successful progressive politics.
Thus vindicating my never having listened to the podcast (unlike ..History, which I subscribe to).
WA Labor’s 70 30 2pp win in 2021 is the biggest in Oz history since 2pty system evolved (~1910).
Internationally? Chirac-Le Pen in 2022 was 82 to 18 but, yknow. Probably others.

Every girl deserves the freedom to dream, learn and shape her future. Yet child marriage, violence and discrimination continue to hold many back.
On #DayOfTheGirlChild, @UNDP 🇧🇩 calls for equal rights, safety and opportunities for every girl.

Replying to @mumbletwits
But it’s also given some good storylines. Always important to keep people interested in elections.

“You certified an election the base rejected”.
Interesting conception of this democracy thing,
You still don’t get it, Mike and you never will.
@realDonaldTrump is focused on ending a war that should have never started, while you and the same failed neocons keep demanding America fund it forever. Lifting sanctions for real leverage isn’t “fueling Putin.” It’s a President finally ignoring men like you who never met a foreign war they didn’t want to drag out.
You certified an election the base rejected, managed decline for decades, and now lecture everyone about “principles” while hardworking American’s foot the bill. The American people already rejected that (just like they rejected you).
Zelensky must go so peace can actually be negotiated.
Two thumbs up from Mandy.
The theater was packed. When it was finished the audience just sat there as the credits rolled. Stillness. You know how rare that is for people to not jump up and start yammering or scrolling or move on to the next thing? There was stillness and awe, gratitude and sorrow and astonishment both with the film and this world we have allowed.
This movie being slammed by reviewers is beyond comprehension. Anyone who is dragging this piece through the mud should get a brain scan or see it again as they must not have been paying attention. This is one of the most daring, original, provocative pieces of art I’ve seen and bravo to every person that laid a hand on it. I’d have given my right arm to be an extra in this movie (I’m right handed).
This craft, like many other things nowadays, feels in peril. The systems at play encourage mass appeal above all else. Digger is a battle cry for art, for waking up, for demanding an actual attention span of your audience and for the miracle of having a point of view. To horrify, delight, wildly surprise repeatedly and inspire us to fight for our world before it’s too late is an incredible accomplishment. Don’t listen to rotten tomatoes. Find an actual person who saw this movie. Listen to them. Tomato tomaaato! Fuck that stupid nonsense percentage bullshit. It’s so dumb. Go see this movie.
Thank you @diggerthemovie !

I participated in the anti-Vietnam War and anti-conscription movement of the late 60s and early 70s. I opposed Australian and US involvement in the war but did not support the Communist leadership of the Vietnamese resistance because they were clearly going to institute a one-party state. I was critical of my own government but did not support its violent overthrow. Some in the movement however did support the Communists and did support the violent overthrow of capitalism and, especially in the US, this took the form of the terrorist organisation -the Weather Underground - that carried out numerous bombings.
I am worried that history is about to repeat itself, only more dangerously this time. While I support the call for peace in the Middle East and am critical of the policies of both Trump and Netanyahu, there is a line that I think the pro-Palestine movement must not cross but are in great danger of doing so. The calls for the destruction of Israel, the glorification of the authoritarian, terrorist, Islamist groups Hamas, the blanket condemnation of “Zionism” and calls to “globalise the intifada” (both of which imply that any Jew around the world who supports the state of Israel is a target) all buy into a narrative that fails to notice when red lines get crossed. I greatly fear we will see the emergence of home-grown terrorism in the coming period from a small minority who have bought this narrative and crossed the red line into violence.
