This week we honor those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever on September 11, 2001. Especially those with Oklahoma City ties. Rick Rescorla is a graduate of Oklahoma City University School of Law, where I serve as Dean. His portrait hangs in my office. Rick was born in Hayle, Cornwall, England. At age 16, Rick voluntarily enlisted in the British Army, training as a paratrooper. He served with an intelligence unit in Cyprus. He later served in the Metropolitan Police in London. In 1963, he moved to the United States and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He earned the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After Vietnam, Rick came to Oklahoma and spent nearly a decade getting his undergraduate degree and master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, followed by a J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law. By 1985, he was working corporate security at the World Trade Center in Manhattan for the company that would eventually become Morgan Stanley. Rick predicted the exact nature of the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, but was ignored. Between 1993 and 2001, he would regularly lead evacuation drills at Morgan Stanley, sometimes in tension with senior executives who resented the disturbances. On September 11, 2001, his office was on the 44th floor of the South Tower. Morgan Stanley occupied 22 floors in the South Tower. The North Tower was hit first. In the 17 minutes that passed before the South Tower was hit at the 77th floor, a P.A. announcement was made to workers in the South Tower that they were safe and should remain at their desks. Rick overruled the announcement and with his bullhorn in hand, led 2,700 Morgan Stanley employees out of the South Tower. During the evacuation, he called his best friend and said “The dumb sons of b****** told me not to evacuate. They said it's just Building One. I told them I'm getting my people the f*** out of here." As he directed the evacuation in the the stairwells, he sang a song to calm the nerves of the Morgan Stanley employees. He sang one based on the Welsh song "Men of Harlech”: Men of Cornwall stop your dreaming; Can't you see their spearpoints gleaming? See their warriors' pennants streaming To this battlefield. Men of Cornwall stand ye steady; It cannot be ever said ye for the battle were not ready; Stand and never yield! Rick was last seen on the 10th floor heading upwards to look for more Morgan Stanley employees. Fifty-six minutes after the South Tower impact, it collapsed, killing everyone still inside. Out of 2,700 Morgan Stanley employees, only 13 died that day, including Rick.

Please join Kristen and I in praying for the family of officer David Taylor who died while helping others get to safety. Truly a selfless act of commitment and sacrifice. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 newson6.com/tulsa-oklahoma-n…

I’m asking for your vote this Tuesday, August 25. I’m running for Governor to build a stronger future for every family who calls it home. Lower taxes. Stronger schools. More Oklahoma jobs. Safer communities. Stronger rural health care. I’ve never backed down from a tough fight, and I won’t start now. As Governor, I’ll keep standing my ground, protecting our freedoms, and putting Oklahoma first. Vote Gentner Drummond for Governor on August 25. 🇺🇸

Hi Mike. Easy answer: Oklahomans voted to legalize medical marijuana. Legal, licensed Oklahoma businesses need banking services, and my bank provides them. In fact, the bank that gave you a $12 million loan, Regent Bank, also provides banking services to the cannabis industry. There’s a big difference between legal Oklahoma businesses and Chinese crime syndicates and Mexican cartels. As Attorney General, I’ve fought to shut down illegal grow operations, prosecute traffickers, and drive foreign criminal organizations out of Oklahoma. So, Mike, if banking legal cannabis businesses is wrong, you might want to have that conversation with your own banker. Hope this helps!
We’ve asked this question more than once. Instead of a straight answer, we’ve gotten the runaround. Now others are asking too, and they should be. If Oklahoma’s Attorney General is chairing a bank making MILLIONS from the marijuana industry his office is supposed to police, Oklahomans deserve a clear explanation before they cast their vote. Know who you’re voting for. Vote Mike Mazzei this Tuesday in the Republican runoff. The only conservative in this race. citynewsokc.com/opinion/gent…

Early voting is underway, and Oklahomans across our state are making their voices heard. If you haven’t voted yet, I’m asking for your vote. I’m a seventh-generation Oklahoman and an Osage County rancher. I know rural Oklahoma cannot be an afterthought. As Governor, I’ll fight to fix rural roads and bridges, strengthen rural healthcare and mental health services, protect our land and property rights, and make sure tax relief doesn’t come at the expense of the schools, deputies, firefighters and essential services our communities depend on. As Attorney General, I’ve stood up to powerful special interests, fought cartel-backed criminal organizations and protected Oklahoma families. As Governor, I’ll keep fighting and putting Oklahoma first. This election comes down to trust. You may not always agree with me. But you’ll always know where I stand. Vote Gentner Drummond for Governor August 25th! 🇺🇸 To find your local polling place, visit: okvoterportal.okelections.go…

As the father of daughters and the grandfather of granddaughters, protecting girls sports isn’t political. It’s personal. That’s why, as Attorney General, I fought to protect girls’ sports, defended Oklahoma’s Save Women’s Sports Act, and stood up to the Biden administration’s attempt to rewrite Title IX. I’ll never stop fighting to protect fairness, preserve opportunities for Oklahoma’s girls, and stand up for what’s right. You’ll always know where I stand.

As our U.S. service members re-engage in Iran, I’m praying for their safety and success in every mission they carry out. May they return home safely to their families when their deployment ends.

I join many around the nation who are in shock today over the news of the passing of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham - a fellow Air Force veteran. Few had more appreciation for our U.S. service members than Senator Graham. Rest easy, sir.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation's Shannon Desherow does not speak for Oklahoma. Her comments attacking the credibility and mission of ICE do not reflect the values of Oklahomans or the views of the law enforcement professionals who work every day with our federal partners to keep our communities safe.  Anyone in Oklahoma law enforcement who feels so passionately against our federal partners should resign. Homeland Security, FBI, DEA and ICE are critical allies to Oklahoma and my office as we combat organized crime.  An attack against one of them is an attack on the entire system that protects our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
MORE vile TikToks from Shannon Desherow, an @osbi_ok employee She made multiple posts right after the ass*ssination of Charlie Kirk, mocking him, blaming Charlie for his own m*rder, and attacking conservatives. This woman is paid with YOUR tax dollars.

I’m grateful for the support of Greg and Donna Seay of Medical Center Pharmacy in Durant. For too long, pharmacy benefit managers have driven up costs and made it harder for independent pharmacies to serve their communities. As Attorney General, I’ve fought to hold PBMs accountable because Oklahoma patients deserve better, and our hometown pharmacies deserve a fair shot. As Governor, I’ll keep fighting for independent pharmacies and a stronger Oklahoma. Thank you, Greg and Donna, for your support and for the work you do every day to care for Oklahomans.

The allegations against State Farm describe a corporate scheme that threatens the integrity of Oklahoma's insurance marketplace and undermines public confidence in an industry families rely on when disaster strikes. That's why I've continued to take action to defend our consumers. We won't rest until we obtain justice. okcfox.com/news/local/oklaho…

Oklahomans are paying more and getting less. That is unacceptable. Families pay their premiums month after month. They hold up their end of the deal. When disaster strikes, insurance companies should be expected to do the same. That is why I’m taking on State Farm after allegations that the company wrongfully denied or underpaid legitimate storm damage claims from Oklahoma homeowners. This is about more than one lawsuit. It is about standing up for hardworking Oklahomans who are tired of being squeezed by higher costs, denied answers, and left fighting for what they already paid for. I will keep fighting to hold powerful companies accountable, protect Oklahoma families, and make sure Oklahomans get what they are owed. @NEWS9 news9.com/oklahoma-city-news…
