Two things are happening in Srebrenica at the moment but they are actually part of the same political project.
1. The SNSD regime police are mounting a sustained pressure campaign against the @SrebrenicaMC.
2. Administrative staff at the local middle school are trying to penalize students for wearing Bosnian national team jerseys, with particular animus reserved for kids wearing the kit of US-born Esmir Bajraktarevic, whose own family escaped the Srebrenica Genocide.
The singular aim here is to create a hostile environment for the local Bosniak community, to indeed erase the memory of their existence in Srebrenica and the foundations of their identity. The final aim of such policies is to force the remaining Bosniak families in this part of eastern Bosnia to leave. This itself is but the political continuation of the war-time campaign of expulsions and terror through which the RS entity was created in the first place.
Western officials love to talk about 'never again' once a year, in July, when it comes to Bosnia. The rest of the year? Radio silence. klix.ba/vijesti/bih/roditelj…

Amid mounting threats and harassment against the @SrebrenicaMC, the leadership has reduced the number of staff on site, to protect their physical safety.
Two weeks ago, the whole of Europe condemned Serbia for its leaders' glorification of Mladic.
Where are they today?
Dear friends,
As you may or may not know, the Srebrenica Memorial Center is being targeted by the corrupt Bosnian Serb police and judiciary.
A few weeks ago, they attempted to summon 26 individuals connected to the Memorial Center for questioning. They managed to question only three of them, without their lawyers present. Four others were questioned in the presence of legal counsel, refused to provide statements to the police, and insisted to be questioned by the prosecutor. Almost immediately afterward, the so-called prosecution halted the questioning.
Now, as part of the same “investigation,” they have devised a plan to raid the Memorial Center - with special police units, masked officers, and cameras present to record our degradation and humiliation.
The Bosnian Serb police were institutionally involved in the 1995 genocide. This is an institution established by individuals who, without exception, were convicted of crimes against humanity and war crimes. I could name them all, but I doubt their names would mean anything to the wider public. In the same vein, this is not a legitimate investigation.
As a result, I have decided today to reduce the number of people working at the Memorial Center to an absolute minimum. I will wait until the end of this week before meeting with everyone on staff to consider temporarily shutting down the Memorial Center.
We will not lend legitimacy or credibility to this affair. We are not criminals, and we refuse to be treated as such. If they want to raid the Memorial Center, they can go ahead. But in that case, we will not be there, nor will we cooperate with this abuse of power. If they want to enter the Memorial Center, they will have to break in - like the criminals they are.

The only regrettable thing in this entire affair is that @vonderleyen refuses to call things by their rightful name.
Five Serbian government ministers attended. Serbian soldiers stood guard over his coffin. His body was transported in a Serbian government aircraft, under the Serbian state flag.
If this is not state involvement, what is?
In any case, we will remember who stood with us and who looked away. We will especially remember it the next time an EU official asks to visit @SrebrenicaMC.
We have had enough of people paying lip service to the victims while proceeding to shake hands with politicians dreaming of future genocides.
The images from Ratko Mladić’s funeral yesterday in Belgrade were shocking.
Ratko Mladić was a convicted war criminal. He was responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He died while serving a life sentence for the Srebrenica genocide and other crimes.
The elements of official support and the presence of some senior Serbian officials at the funeral are deeply regrettable. They demonstrate a failure to confront a dark chapter in Europe’s recent history and contradict the values underpinning Serbia’s path towards the European Union.
Our thoughts are with all the victims of the crimes committed in the countries of former Yugoslavia.

I would have usually let this pass as part of local folklore. But not this time.
What you hear in this video is a death chant: literally calling for “500 Muslims in the Sana River” and another 100 in the Drina. This happened last night in the town of Bratunac, eastern Bosnia, just a few kilometers from the Srebrenica Memorial Center and roughly 500 meters from the local police station.
It comes on the heels of the Bosnian Serb police summoning 26 Bosniaks from Srebrenica, all of them employees of the Memorial Center, for questioning on completely fabricated charges.
Make no mistake: this is the real face of the Bosnian Serb government, which has lately been lavishing money on lobbyists in Western capitals while misrepresenting itself. About how they pitch themselves to some extreme-right corners, perhaps later.
But if you are a US senator or congressman/woman, an MEP, or an MP in a European country, keep this in mind the next time they ask for a meeting. Ask yourself: do you really want to be associated with this? With them?
Because I assure you: they will be gone. Sooner or later, they will be relegated to history. But we will still be here. And we will remember. Because it is history you are tampering with. Our history.

Once again, Bosnian Serb Presidency member @Cvijanovic_Z effectively confirms that the latest assault on @SrebrenicaMC is a campaign of political persecution and intimidation targeting both the Memorial Center and the Bosniak community in Srebrenica as such. She is not a bystander: she is one of its instigators, seeking political gain through genocide denial, hate, and systematic discrimination against non-Serbs.

Not because of me. Not because of the adults. We never learn. It’s because of you kids.... You never change.
So do me one final favour, OK?

As the Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, I am deeply troubled by the unwarranted questioning I faced this morning by the Bosnian state police. It is outrageous that I am being subjected to baseless charges of inciting hate, particularly when it is evident that the real agenda is to criminalize the memorialization of the Srebrenica and Bosnian genocide.
It is clear that the prosecutors' office is attempting to silence those of us who are committed to preserving the memory of the horrific events that transpired in Srebrenica and all across Bosnia. This blatant assault on our efforts to remember and honor the victims is not just an attack on our freedom of speech but also a deliberate distortion of historical truth.
The very essence of justice is being undermined by these actions, and it is imperative that we expose and resist any attempt to suppress the truth about Srebrenica and the Bosnian genocide. We cannot allow for the memory of the innocent lives lost to be distorted or manipulated for political gain.
I urge the international community to join me in condemning these egregious attempts to silence those seeking to memorialize the victims and seek justice for the atrocities committed. Our resolve to uphold the memory of the victims and ensure that such atrocities are never forgotten must remain unwavering, despite such unjust challenges.

Milovan Dilas about "chetniks," 1942:
"The Chetniks, on the bridges over the Drina, slaughtered one by one, hundreds and thousands of Muslims – men, women, and children – who were bound together with wire. Under the leadership of the London-based exile government and Draža Mihailović in the country, they competed with the Ustaše in crimes, and surpassed them in treachery. In Serbia, they went after the Partisans as if on a game hunt, slaughtering and killing the dearest sons of the Serbian people, handing them over to the Germans. They tore the living flesh off Bata Janković in Čačak and stuffed it into his mouth. They slaughtered hundreds, thousands of freedom fighters in Montenegro and Herzegovina. They set about destroying entire young generations of Serbian combatants and the best people's warriors, the heart of the people's struggle. They handed over the children of freedom fighters from Montenegro to the hands of Italian fascists to mutilate and deform their young souls. In Herzegovina, they rape Partisan women, break the old bones of Partisan fathers and mothers, and level entire villages that have risen in the fight for freedom. There is no treachery, no baseness, no crime that the Chetnik would shy away from, there is no treachery and crime that the Chetnik exile 'government' would not reward and decorate with stars. Within it, the Great Serbian beast has awakened, which has no measure or end in treachery and crime, and which, for class reasons, smothers – in a sea of blood – the struggle of its own people in order to secure its bloody hegemonic rule in the future. The Chetnik – that is the most insidious, dirtiest traitor and criminal, that is the gravedigger of the Serbian people and all the peoples of Yugoslavia. The Chetniks and Ustaše, they are neither Serbs, nor Croats, nor humans."
