It may not look like much to most people, but these glowing de novo shoots, albeit a bit vitrified, represent almost 2 years of work for Dr. Chris Willig and I.
Cheers to grit. Boy did this require grit.

In the six years I’ve been working in a USDA lab there has been 38d of federal furlough, many emergency meetings prepping for shutdowns, a pandemic, etc. Unfortunately, I work with an obligate, so I still have to come in and continue my work in spite this chaos and stress. 1/5
What happens when a population feels insecure about their economic future? Reduced spending, reduced growth, and, ultimately, a recession. Nobody wants this. I sincerely hope folks in DC reconsider the consequences of laying off hundreds of thousands of federal workers. 5/5

You can see the dsRed in the veins under green light (without any filters!). So cool! Finally finding some regenerating shoots that have my Cas, gRNA, and marker modules (and not just regenerating plants with my 35s::dsRed control 🙃)! #tissueculture #planttransformation #CRISPR

To anyone doing software development in a USDA lab with a USDA computer: how do you do it? Our lab made the mistake of buying a high-end USDA computer for ML train/inf and it's been an absolute nightmare dealing with IT restrictions... it's like they don't want me to do my job.
Twelve years ago while I struggled through grad stats using SAS I thought I'd never take a stats class again... now here I volunteering to take a Bayesian statistics workshop over the weekend. 😅
R > SAS
Also, time. It's taken time to appreciate the nuances of stats.
Actually Biden received more votes than Trump did (popular and electoral)... and the reason Trump says he's the the top voted Republican is simply population growth (true for Biden too). #Debate2024

You know you’re in a hot, humid place when it looks like they’re misting the plane (cold AC + warm humid cabin air = fog). Wild.
#PlantHealth2024 was a ton of fun… but so was climbing at #memphisrox. Awesome community supported non-profit climbing gym. Def check it out if you’re still around! Only $8 Lyft there from hotel and sliding scale to climb.

The value of ‘wasting time’ on deep thinking is often overlooked in a scientific ecosystem increasingly tainted by Wall Street’s productivity mindset.
