I was wondering if I could apply for a job at @CityNewsYEG as a News Woofcaster. I could report on squirrel traffic, local treat theft, updates on fire hydrant activity, and of course, as a trained meateaterologist, let you know when it's BBQ weather?
(Admin note: she thinks all weather is BBQ weather, even -30°C with blizzard conditions)

Me at ER for cardiac issues
Dr: “Could you be pregnant?”
Me: “No I had a hysterectomy”
Dr: “You look too young for that? Are you sure?”
Me: “I’m confident”
Dr: “I think you might be confused. Maybe it was your appendix.”

Some of the citizens in Sisimiut, Greenland posted this on FB with this photo;
Recommendation to fellow citizens in Sisimiut: Vance’s wife’s visit is a charm offensive. If you smile at them or take a selfie with them, you are sending a message to the world that you love the USA and want to be part of it. It is recommended not to show interest. We have already expressed our stance through a large demonstration—let’s remain firm and stay united.

Reminder when you email your MP to say you voted for them last year (if you did) but won't at the next election if they vote for the disability benefit cuts. That's what they care about, use it to your advantage

A sobering message from a history teacher:
I’ve spent years teaching American and international government — from strong democracies like the UK to authoritarian regimes like russia and China.
But lately, the most alarming lesson comes from home.

It’s worth really pausing on this: the Health Secretary is going on the BBC stating that people who have mental health conditions don’t really have them - they’re just being “over diagnosed” by doctors. This is beyond cuts to benefits. This is casting doubt on scientific reality.
"There's an over-diagnosis [of mental heath problems]"
Heath Secretary Wes Streeting says "there are too many people being written off" from work with mental health issues and "too many people aren't getting the support they need"

The latest report from Statistics Canada on uptake of the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) confirms that the percentage of people with disabilities who are approved for the DTC is shockingly low – just 15.6%.
There are lots of reasons for the low uptake – the complex application form and other barriers to approval, as well as a feeling that for people living on low incomes who may not owe taxes, a tax credit just isn’t worth it.
However, the DTC is a crucial gateway benefit for other government programs such as the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) and the upcoming Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). Not being approved for the DTC can mean missing out on funds and supports you are entitled to.
Plan Institute is working to help as many people as possible access the DTC ahead of the release of the CDB this summer. To learn more about our resources and services, including free one-on-one support with the DTC application form, please visit canadadisabilitybenefit.ca/

We've been saving this little pup for when we thought you all might really need a gold star. And, given the current circumstances, here she is. 13/10
Today all hurdles have been passed - the CDB will start paying out in July.
With all the chaos in Canada, politically, I’m so grateful that all the behind the scenes people got it together so that this is going to happen!
5 years of hard work from a lot of people! Phew!
📢 Big news! 📢
Thank you to all who championed the Canada Disability Benefit! While we await full details, the final regulations will be in Canada Gazette, Part II soon.

There is an aggressor: Russia.
There is a victim: Ukraine.
We were right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago—and to keep doing so.
By “we,” I mean the Americans, the Europeans, the Canadians, the Japanese, and many others.
Thank you to all who have helped and continue to do so. And respect to those who have been fighting since the beginning—because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, their children, and the security of Europe.

Russia illegally and unjustifiably invaded Ukraine.
For three years now, Ukrainians have fought with courage and resilience. Their fight for democracy, freedom, and sovereignty is a fight that matters to us all.
Canada will continue to stand with Ukraine and Ukrainians in achieving a just and lasting peace.
