A #hedgehog out in the day "sunbathing" or wobbling about like in this vid is in serious trouble. Please pop it in a high-sided box and get it to a wildlife rescue immediately. Time is of the essence! Out in the day = not okay

A hedgehog resting up in long grass is almost impossible to see. They will hear your strimmer and smell you approaching, and be terrified, but unlike other animals who run away, a hedgehog just curls up tighter, hoping you'll leave her alone.
Please never strim below knee level.
Saw a #Hedgehog in the road while out riding my bike this morning, so stopped to check it out. Sadly it was too late - the hog, a large, otherwise healthy-looking male, was already dead, prob hit by a car. Scamper free Mr Hedgie 😥🐾💕🌈
#Hedgehog Lewis was found OID in the playground of a nearby school in Nov 2022. He was very thin, just 300g, with rattly breathing. He spent the winter at my local rescue & tonight I released him in my garden. God speed Lewis 🐾💕 #PricklyPals #BeTheirAmbulance🚑

Are you busting to mow your lawn?
Please don't.
Wait a month.
Right now the hedgehog's future meals are overwintering in that long grass.
And our future depends on the pollinators, whose first precious meal comes from the dandelions you'll allow to grow.
The future is unmown.

Can we have a big shout-out for dandelions? These remarkable wildflowers offer a vital early food source for pollinators including bees & butterflies, and they support over 50 insect species. RT if you’re going to let them grow 🐝

In less than a week, on the 21st March @CambsCC will vote on whether to DESTROY its largest traditional orchard. A HABITAT OF PRINCIPAL IMPORTANCE, a 1000 trees, for a £200m tarmac road for buses. A loss @greatercambs claim can be “lessened to non-significant” in 30 years by “mitigation”, it cannot. Media, shine a light on those who have a vote so that we,
and the generations behind us, who will have to pay for their decision, can bear witness 🌳🚌❌🐝

Apple trees benefit all sorts of wildlife, but traditional orchards are now rare in the UK – around two thirds have been lost since 1960. So please plant apple trees to help bats, birds, butterflies and bees!

Very happy to see a #GreenWoodpecker rooting in my very wild lawn, poss after the #JuneBug grubs. Only managed an appallingly bad phone pic through the kitchen window I'm afraid 🙄🙈

If you are starting to tidy your #garden ready for #spring please check for hibernating #hedgehogs first. Also do leave a corner "untidy" for #wildlife 🐾🐾💕

With an unnatural mild spell due this weekend, I beg you not to 'tidy' your garden.
Remember it's only Feb and the insects the hedgehogs and baby birds will depend on in the spring are overwintering in larvae stage now.
If you disturb them, our hogs and birds die of starvation.

Brilliant news! The lovely Riverside Woodcraft, who make the very best hedgehog houses but had to close their business, are going to continue making their houses and feeders, for another site. Hedgehog Cabin followers can use this link for a 5% discount:

These vulnerable little animals are in trouble. They're red-listed, on the edge of extinction.
We simply can't tolerate this.
Please help by leaving your garden as wild as possible so their food (beetles and caterpillars) can thrive.

It's never been so easy to save a life.
Hedgehogs hibernated early this year, so many have begun rising for food and water top-ups. Travelling far and crossing roads while hungry, weak and disorientated is dangerous, so please help them.
