Anyone else think that the JC Home Ec paper was much too long? So many lines to be filled with detail in 1hr30! Esp when you look at the JC Science exam which had tick the box sections. It’s hard on the good student who wants to expand answers. #homeeconomics @ATHE_HomeEc

HOME EC PRACTICALS- DAY 1 😃 What a wonderful way to begin our day back from Easter break! two groups of students prepared, cooked and served a wide variety of sweet and savoury dishes as part of their Junior Cert exam.

SALMON FISHCAKES 🍣🐟 3rd years made homemade fish cakes using mashed potatoes, spring onion and poached salmon, all coated in breadcrumbs and shallow fried. An amazing class displaying so many skills.. and even better, they actually liked the taste #fish #sustainability

HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN MUFFINS 🎃 3rd years made Pumpkin Halloween muffins today using fresh pumpkin, a great way to use up the inside of a carved pumpkin. We toasted the seeds with cumin & sea salt for a snack and even fed some hens with the scraps. Happy Halloween 🎃
We had an extremely busy open night last Thursday night. As every Home Ec teacher knows it’s especially busy for us.. we made hundreds of cookies, mini scones, bite size pizzas and tray bakes. Each year group spoke to students and parents, their love of home ec was evident to all
