TRAPEZOID LIGAMENT | ULTRASOUND
Locate the coracoid process and rotate the probe laterally until the clavicle and fibrillar pattern appear.
A simple technique to assess the trapezoid ligament.

BRACHIALIS | ANTERIOR ELBOW SONOANATOMY
At the anterior elbow, the brachialis is recognized by its triangular morphology and characteristic hyperechoic intramuscular aponeurosis.
A key landmark for precise MSK ultrasound assessment.

Acute ankle sprain in a professional soccer player.
US: chronic ATFL changes + acute rupture of the superior extensor retinaculum with muscle herniation.
Not always just ATFL.

Medial ankle scanning tip: tibialis posterior tendon and spring ligament relationship.
A simple way to orient the probe, find the 3 bony landmarks and confirm the spring ligament on ultrasound.
Hope useful.

Proximal iliopsoas ≠ single tendon.
In anterior hip ultrasound, remember the psoas and iliacus tendons remain distinct before fusing distally toward the lesser trochanter.
Small detail, big difference in sonoanatomy.

The lateral elbow ligament complex is complex, but key.
4 structures to know before scanning:
• Annular ligament
• Radial collateral ligament
• Lateral ulnar collateral ligament
• Accessory ligament

Diagnosing if a calcification is truly causing shoulder pain can be tricky.
Internal rotation + abduction can help reproduce symptoms and confirm whether it's actually the source.

Detecting a calcification is only the first step.
Structured US assessment: measurement in both axis, localization, morphology, Doppler & dynamic exam.

If both AC ligaments fail, instability shows.
Superior + inferior ligament injury → horizontal instability on dynamic imaging.

Interpreting healing muscle injuries @carlespedret at @footballmed
Can you distinguish moderate vs severe atrophy on ultrasound?
→ Moderate: muscular pattern altered, tendon still visible
→ Severe: total loss of structure
This directly impacts your clinical interpretation.

So this is ‘snowballing’ in a good way
It’s a ‘who’s who’ of MSK medicine
And we are at 600 pages 👀
All profits of the book will go to
‘My Name5 Doddie’ Motor Neurone Disease Foundation
Exciting times
Shoulder ultrasound requires more than image acquisition.
Structured interpretation defines clinical value.

A common mistake in hip MSK ultrasound:
Confusing psoas and iliacus.
Thick tendon + small medial muscle → Psoas
Large muscle + thin deep tendon → Iliacus
Anatomy precision = diagnostic precision.

Medial knee US tip:
The superficial MCL does NOT stop at the joint line.
Follow it:
• Medial epicondyle
• Across the joint
• Down to the tibial metaphysis
Stopping early = incomplete assessment.
