if someone says ‘well let’s think about this from first principles’ at work more often than not you are about to hear some bullshit. do you think you’re Descartes? second or even third order principles should be totally fine to draft this slide deck

Such garbage on the internet. I find inaccurate description of my business. I email company, as described in their "editorial process" I get back automated sales pitch for their info-product stuff. I say "no thanks, just appreciate you looking into the article." them:

A year ago I'd spend hours carefully recreating a customer's very specific database/app setup to recreate a bug. Now it takes minutes + add on 20 variations.

Welp... Got laid off from Podia today. Kinda a lot to process for a Thursday. I'll have something more coherent to say eventually. For now, send Ruby/Rails leads. Or dog pictures.... Both are good.

I feel seen. This quote explains my life now... "skilled engineers needed to steer Claude away from over-engineering parts of the system in response to hypothetical concerns".

> Total comp is $550k-$1.1M Why do they list a budget for the entire department and not just one person? This is really confusing.
We're hiring exceptional engineers to join the team. No degree required. All we care about is you being smart and able to solve hard problems. Total comp is $550k-$1.1M (job ad says something else, but ignore that).

IMMACULATE
Friday's Weather Rating: 10/10 BACK ON TOP!!! High temperatures reach the lower 70s with beautiful sunny skies, comfortable dew points and a light breeze. It's hard to ask for anything more than this. The vibes are immaculate out there today!!

We spent five years trying search engines. Every one of them wanted to own the experience and be the destination. We needed a foundation. New blog: how @PlanetScale TIN became a building block in Layers search layers.engineering/how-plane…

Very "light" Saturday with 7 meetings on the calendar, working and coding in between. Loving the times...

Would not be surprised if it was some AI security scan that did this. I remember one continuously alerting on our DCR apps as well.
