Our Polish colleagues report no comparable Starlink disruptions. President Zelenskyy has now confirmed that Ukrainian Starlink terminals were tested in the EU and worked at speeds where they are restricted in Ukraine. This wasn't a random technical glitch. The restrictions are specific to Ukraine.

Trump just waived all of the sanctions on Russia provided for in the Lindsey Graham Sanctioning Russia Act, just as I and others warned he would. Trump’s latest surrender to Putin again betrays our Ukrainian partners and defies clear congressional intent of legislation designed to punish Russia for its illegal war of aggression. Trump has proven he will twist this law and abuse the powers it conferred on him, and while he has let the tariff powers lie for the moment, the law as written also empowers Trump to weaponize new trade authorities against our allies and trading partners. Congress must fix this flawed law to stop Trump from capitulating to Putin and ensure that it truly supports Ukraine.

Indication the Turkish Govt’s clampdown on media freedom is extending and likely to go further. I appear to be the only foreign journalist (so far) affected by a recent wave of online censorship. It’s a broad spectrum targeting X accounts of Turkish journalists, academics, media freedom, human rights and LGBTQ+ rights groups on ‘obscenity’ grounds. More than 1000 X accounts were blocked in Turkey in Sept - more than the entire 2025. I’ve been given no explanation for this action 🧵
