The question made him sigh softly. He knew she'd say that, that she'd brush it off like it was nothing, but he couldn't help but worrying about her. He always had, and he always would, no matter what. "It won't be a waste of time, if we can make sure you're alright."

He hated knowing there wasn't really anything else he could do, he couldn't magically make her feel better, try as he might. "Are you alright? Are you feeling any better?"

Daniel huffed out a quiet laugh, shaking his head in amusement at her. "Not sure that I do," he told her, amused by the expression. "Guessing it means you want something, though. C'mon then. Clothes? Handbag? Shoes?"

There'd been a time when he'd have expected her to put a fight, want a big and grand wedding, but he knew things had changed. He'd always preferred the idea of something small and intimate anyway, and if she was happy, then so was he. "Then I can't wait to do this."

"You don't seem to be coughing as much," he murmured, though that didn't really mean much. It wasn't exactly going to be instant, and water wasn't exactly a magical cure either. "Maybe just sit up for a bit longer, it might pass."

Despite how uncomfortable he actually was in this current position, Daniel managed to slowly drift into a deeper sleep, his grip on her still quite tight, keeping her against his chest.

"I love you," he murmured against her lips, pausing for a moment, just so he could lean back and properly look at her. Daniel's hand moved to cup her cheek, thumb rubbing gently over the bone. "You're so beautiful."

A gentle smile curled Daniel's lips upwards, as he leaned over to brush some of her hair out of the way. "I feel like I should be," he murmured in response, unable to hold back another yawn. "Should we just get some sleep?"

He was breathing deeply, but he certainly wasn't even close to wanting to stop. On the contrary, Daniel's grip on her tightened, his kisses growing more hungry with each passing second. After, when he 𝘸𝘢𝘴 too exhausted to continue, he shifted to lie beside her, gazing at her.

He pulled her body flush to his, hands slipping under her shirt, caught entirely in the moment now.

Unfortunately, he was feeling it too. He paused for a moment, resting his forehead against hers. “Sorry.”

He smiled against her lips, melting completely into her, his kisses growing a bit more heated.

He smiled softly down at her, letting himself drift off to sleep too. It might not be the most comfortable, but he was perfectly fine for now.

He sat down beside her, his hand resting on her lower back. “That helping at all?”

After the acid attack, it wasn’t really a surprise, though he hoped that day wasn’t haunting her; wasn’t the thing putting her off. “You sure?”

Daniel scoffed, raising an eyebrow at her. “What exactly does that look mean?”

Daniel nodded, for that had been his exact thinking. “Yeah,” he murmured thoughtfully. “You definitely need to make sure you’re hydrated then.”
