I’m really honoured to be named Best @Framer Designer 2025. A lot of hours, a lot of care, a lot of obsession, and a lot of trying to make things feel a bit more human. Very thankful to Framer and to everyone who’s supported the work. Means a lot. 💙
The winner of the 2025 Framer Award for Best Framer Designer is @mrblackstudio!

I’ve thought about this for a long time, and I’ve decided to take an extended break from social media and delete the apps. As some of you know, I’ve spent the past year dealing with BIND (benzodiazepine-induced neurological dysfunction) after prescribed medication and poor management led to a cold turkey withdrawal. The last couple of weeks have been particularly rough, and I’m scared about my health and what supporting myself through design looks like while I’m getting worse. It’s made me question where the little energy I have is going. For years I’ve happily shared my work, experiments and the tools I love. In the process, I’ve probably spent thousands of hours creating content and promoting brands without ever really questioning what I get back from it. The answer, particularly from a business perspective, has been very little. Perhaps kudos, and kudos doesn’t pay the bills. I did get some offers along the way, but they came too late. Right now I’m simply too sick to commit to them. That’s not bitterness. Nobody asked me to do any of it. I genuinely enjoyed sharing my passion. I just don’t think it makes sense anymore. Right now my health, my family and whatever creative energy I have left need to come before feeding a kudos algorithm. So I’m checking out for a while. Hopefully I’ll come back healthier, with a different relationship with all of this. And if you want to reach me for a real conversation and an online coffee, drop me an email.

Funny thing is, I’ve spent years designing without getting into complex interactive stuff. Coded elements, custom interactions, none of that was part of work. Today I’m sharing progress with @Framer + agents, which feels like a second designer at my desk :) More in the thread🧵

Six years somehow became today. A poem I wrote two years ago, now given a voice and a little space to live as music. It’s called “Still Counting”. For you brother. Always 🫶

AI shouldn’t just give students the answer. That’s the easy bit. The interesting part is designing an experience that makes them want to keep learning. That was a big part of our thinking when we worked in 2021–2023 on the brand, experience and UI for Syntea, an AI study companion. Great to see it now shortlisted for the AI Innovation in Education Award at the 2026 QS Reimagine Education Awards from more than 2,200 projects 😊

What if Apple made a MacBook Pro Duo? Had the idea. Opened GPT-6 Astra. Connected it straight into Blender via MCP. Built it. No modelling skills. Just art direction → Blender = a MacBook Pro with 3 screens, a mag stand + doubles up as an extended display in any direction.

I really like how Dan simplified his rant on pricing. Pretty spot on. The most we’ve ever charged for a branding project was €55k, back in 2023. Two designers. One copywriter. A rebrand for a company valued at around €10bn. You can still see that work in the Red Bull Arena, home of RB Leipzig, broadcast to millions on TV every week. We didn’t suddenly wake up one morning and decide we were a €55k branding studio. We got there after a decade of doing the work. Vodafone. BMW. Plenty of other big names. And lots of small an mediu sized clients too. Nobody teleports straight to the sexy logo wall. It’s exactly what Dan says: you need to do the work, and do it well, to prove your worth. That compounds over time. But there’s another part I’d add and that’s relationships. A huge amount of my career has come through recommendations, or from people I worked with years ago (last two decades) moving somewhere new and eventually thinking: “That guy. Good guy. Did a great job.” Not exactly a cannes winning testimonial, but incredibly valuable. They already know what they’re getting. They trust you. They know you have integrity. And, most importantly, you’ve already proved you can do the work. Look after people. Do good work. Don’t be a dick 🍆 You’d be surprised how often the same people pop back into your life over decades.
13 minute rant about increasing your pricing. Sorry.

Yesterday it felt proper warmed up in studio. We even managed to test our audio visual product on the Beamer. A massive 3m wide screen on the wall whilst banging some out some techno to our new neighbours. They’re gonna love us 😅😝
