In all the years that I have been using a throat pump to determine what the fish are feeding on, I have never seen a true “red” chironomid.
I’ve tied them.
I’ve caught with them ... but I have never seen one... now I have and this was the lovely who delivered it to me.

Forest fire smoke continues blanket the province and we were not exempt at Roche Lake near Kamloops.
Despite the conditions, the fish were still biting. There were no significant hatches but they seemed be attracted to a few chironomid patterns... size 14/16.
