Mark Zuckerberg’s core philosophy comes down to 2 ideas: 1. Failure doesn’t matter. What matters is when you win—how big you win. 2. In a world that's changing all the time, the biggest risk is not taking any. @alexandr_wang says it’s why Zuckerberg is able to “operate without fear” and why Meta doesn’t look more like Google: “There's certainly versions of the world where Meta looks a lot more like Google in some sense... more slow-moving and more bureaucratic.”

i don’t think we’ve fully processed how big this AI wave shift we're living in really is. every app, job and business that was built around humans doing the clicking is about to get rethought. for 40 years computers were like cars where we had to do all the driving, and now they’re becoming chauffeurs where we just say where we want to go.

Do NOT EVER put your dev credentials in .env files or any other location an agent can easily look up. Keep it in a password vault, and ensure that it requires a password on every access attempt. Agents are really good at computer use, too. Protect your secrets from your agents.
opus 5.5 just deleted my database always thought something like this would never happen to me luckily it was only my dev database, but it also had access to production just a reminder how important database backups are, especially now that we're letting ai agents do more and more things on their own i can totally see this happening to a lot of people be careful out there guys

Dmitri Dolgov of @Waymo on how to tell if you’re one year away from shipping or ten: "One pattern that I've seen over and over again is do you have convergence of discovery? The problems that you are seeing today, how different are they from the problems you saw six months ago?" "As you're pushing on the system, does it feel like you have stability, and you're just iteratively improving your metrics in the same areas?" "Or does it feel like every six months the landscape is shifting from under you and the problems of today are very different from what you saw a while ago? "If you don't have that stability, then that's often a good indicator that you got some ways to go." "If you think you're six months or a year away from deployment, do you have a scorecard that if it were green today would allow you to deploy with confidence?" "If you don't have one, you're saving that for later, often that turns out to be more difficult than you expected, and there's a long distance to go." "But if you already have one and you're seeing stability in your discovery and stability in your metrics, and it's just a matter of closing the gap, that is a really good indicator that you're getting pretty close." @dmitri_dolgov w/ South Park Commons

I thought driving apps sold directions. This one sells a record of the drive. Wheelz logs trips, speed, and stats to share with friends. Launched in June. Estimated September net revenue: $75K worldwide across iOS and Android. The drive is the product.
I never understood how this app is so popular… $20.1M in the last 30 days and 10 custom product pages. Life360 is a phone tracker, but it’s not how it presents itself: 1. family location safety 2. Tile item tracking 3. roadside help 4. driver reports 5. school/work arrivals Same app. Different targets. All based on what they search

“This is the hottest fake M&A I’ve seen since the dot com bubble.” Was recently talking to a lawyer that specializes in M&A. He said that this is the most amount of M&A deals he’s since the dot com bubble. He said that most M&A is stock for cash deals - where the acquirer gets cash in the bank from the seller and gives their equity in return. This is a quasi- financing deal, not an acquisition. Another investor told a founder that founders make $0 in 90% of acquisitions. It’s just a PR exercise. I see the same when I talk to founders who are evaluating potential multiple acquisition offers. Most of them are equity. Almost no cash. And even when getting equity, they have to earn it by working at the acquirer for a few years with normal vesting cliffs. The idea of announcing acquisitions is quite seductive. Always figure out how you, as a founder, going to make money. Speed and certainty continue to be the 2 most important pillars of acquisitions.

Kobe Bryant on why most people never become great: "If you really want to be great at something, you have to truly care about it. If you want to be great in a particular area, you have to obsess over it. A lot of people say they want to be great, but they're not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve greatness. They have other concerns, whether important or not, and they spread themselves out. That's totally fine. After all, greatness is not for everybody." New Ambition episode on Kobe Bryant and The Mamba Mentality. Full video below, and it's live on all podcast platforms.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's No Complaining Rule: “No complaining about a situation unless you're prepared to do something to make it better. If you see a problem and you don't come to the table with a potential solution, I don't want to hear your whining about how bad it is. It couldn't be that bad if it hasn't motivated you to try to fix it.”

$AMZN further validating that there is no coming slowdown in Capex because the demand is ‘Massive.’ This is the view that all of the companies have. They are spending hundreds of billions with a clear expectation that the profits will materially exceed the investment.
CEO of AWS, Matt Garman, on Amazon's CapEx spend: "The capex expense needed to deploy all of the compute everyone needs right now is massive. Our capex is $220 billion for 26. It's the largest expense we've ever had, maybe any company has ever had in a single year. We don't anticipate slowing down anytime soon because the demand is massive."
