When President Trump says we need to find a compromise – we live with this. A ceasefire and sitting down at the negotiating table – it is a huge compromise. Nobody can step into the shoes of all these people whose children were tortured. And you can't force people to forgive. How can you force them when their child was tortured? How do you forgive? It's impossible. I desperately want justice. I just really want. I know so many people had their hearts ripped out, and there won't be a new heart. That's why we say a ceasefire is the only step, because people’s hatred isn't going anywhere. It takes time and justice. And that's why it's a huge compromise. I've tried many times to tell the President of the United States: understand us. This is a huge compromise just to hold the lines where we are. Trump can bring Putin to the negotiating table very easily. The way President Trump talks about me, he needs to adopt that kind of rhetoric about Putin. Which is worse, the strategic stupidity of rewarding a murderous dictator with billions of dollars for taking American hostages, or a US envoy groveling before him? As usual in these US-Russia “negotiations," Putin gets everything he wants and gives up nothing he cares about.

There is a lot of Russian propaganda in Europe. They have invested as much money in it as in weapons during this war. This is a massive financial program spanning decades. Russia has been waging a hybrid war against Europe, including Italy, France, Britain, and Germany, for a long time. It just isn't waging a full-scale war against them as it is against us. Because we had the same thing – a hybrid war. Russian narratives across absolutely all television and media platforms, on the internet, and on social media. People should not be pierced through and brainwashed by waves of narratives from the Russian Federation. Because it is up to France, Ukraine, Italy, and Spain to decide how to live and whom to elect. Russia cannot influence Italy's choices and freedom. Italy is a free country, just like Ukraine. The Russians will seek to exploit far-right movements, religious movements, faith, migration, and gender. Russia doesn't care what issue can divide society: from religion to language, Russia will always find it and strike there. We are seeing this now not only in Europe – they also have influence in the United States of America. They have a very significant wave going on there, and their network is operating. From an interview with Corriere della Sera. (3/3)

Let's be clear: Ukraine did not start this war. Russia did. What American national interest is served by helping an imperial dictator at the expense of a democracy fighting for its survival?

Either the President was lying or Musk was lying, but the decision to slow down satellite speed and access has life or death consequences for Ukraine. This deserves a full investigation by the Senate. Elon Musk should be compelled to testify before Congress and under oath. National security decisions should be made in our national security interests, and not based on the personal whim of an unstable executive.

My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values. nytimes.com/2026/10/21/us/po…

I was proud to partner with @SenBlumenthal today for a call with President Zelenskyy to hear firsthand about the challenges Ukraine faces on the battlefield. His message remains clear: Ukraine wants peace. Degrading Ukraine’s satellite communications, weakening its air defenses and easing sanctions against Russia only embolden Putin and prolong this war.   @ZelenskyyUa confirmed ongoing Starlink disruptions, reported interruptions to critical U.S. intelligence sharing and raised concerns about delays in air defense interceptors. He also reiterated his willingness to halt strikes on Russian energy facilities if Putin agrees to do the same.   Congress has overwhelmingly supported tough sanctions against those enabling Putin’s war. We remain committed to standing with Ukraine and our European allies to end Russia’s brutal aggression and secure lasting peace.

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin. apnews.com/article/russia-sa…

WTF, Steve? Look up the definition of “humanitarian.” What an embarrassing and outrageous thing to say. You should go back to Ukraine and ask the families of the children Putin has kidnapped and murdered whether they agree your friend Putin is a “humanitarian.”

I met in Kyiv with a team from the American defense company Lockheed Martin, which helps us save lives. Its Patriot systems and F-16 aircraft play an important role in defending against Russian ballistic missiles and jet-powered “shaheds.” And things are not easy with either right now. We discussed how we can expand and increase supplies. The company is currently ramping up production of ballistic missile interceptors. We count on the opportunity to purchase some of them to protect more lives. We are also trying to do everything possible to ensure that F-16 maintenance and repairs are carried out in Ukraine. Thank you for the meeting. It is important that Lockheed Martin has a presence in Ukraine. We are doing everything on our part to expand our partnership.

A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A “shahed” struck people directly – in a park near an ordinary café. Pure atrocity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in a stroller – her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children. I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine under these circumstances and helps us shoot down “shaheds,” shoot down missiles, and stop Russian assaults. These are horrific photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Lives must be protected. Ukraine needs air defense. You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue. We ask America to be strong, and we ask it to apply the Lindsey Graham law. We ask Europe to continue its support. We ask that everything possible be done to bring peace and guarantee security. Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted on continuing the killing all this time. The world has enough strength to stop the war. That strength must finally be used – against the murderers.

President Trump’s decision to waive sanctions against Russia as Putin continues his brutal war of aggression against Ukraine dishonors the legacy of the late Senator Lindsey Graham and is decidedly not in the national interests of the United States and should be reversed. Putin is a war criminal and only understands strength. Waiving Graham Act sanctions on Russia signals weakness at a moment that demands American strength. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression, just as we did during the years of the first Trump Administration. A victory in Ukraine would be a victory for freedom and is squarely in the national interests of the United States. If Putin overruns Ukraine, I have no doubt it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him. For the cause of freedom, for America’s national security and that of our allies including Ukraine, President Trump should Restore sanctions under the Graham Act immediately, Rescind the diesel deal with Russia and Rally our Allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. Had a conversation with the American President’s envoys, Steve Witkoff @SEPeaceMissions and Jared Kushner @jaredkushner. Peace comes only through strength and cooperation built on trust. We are doing everything on our part to make this happen, and to ensure that America’s position is strong and helps bring peace closer. Peace that everyone, except Russia, has been waiting for over the past four and a half years. In particular, we discussed the results of our teams’ meeting in Florida. Our teams maintain virtually nonstop communication. We are also preparing the next steps in diplomacy. We constantly inform our partners about the real situation with Russian strikes, which do not cease for a single minute, and about air defense issues. A lot here depends precisely on America’s position. Ukraine remains ready to work constructively, honestly, and toward a real result. I thank everyone in America who supports Ukraine and this particular approach.

The trend this year continues – since the start of fall, our warriors have liberated more territory than the Russians have managed to capture. The same was true at other points this year. We continue to press the Russians at the front. Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Orikhiv, Novopavlivka, Novoandriivka, and Velykomykhailivka are all under Ukrainian control. We are also defending the areas near Kramatorsk and destroying Russian forces 20 kilometers from Zaporizhzhia, not 5, as someone over there in Russia is snowing Putin. Our front is strong, and I thank every warrior and every one of our units that is carrying out its tasks in full.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Sanctions relief will continue. I think the diesel deal and the move regarding the Lindsey Graham Act are not the end of it. Unfortunately. It’s unfortunate because we all had great respect for Lindsey. He devoted his life to America. We had an excellent relationship with him. And shortly before the tragedy, Lindsey was in Ukraine. He always supported us very strongly and pushed for as much assistance to Ukraine as possible. It’s difficult without him, I’ll be honest. I want to thank both Democrats and Republicans who supported his bill. That was a major victory: this truly bipartisan support. And now, the decision to undo all of this, to block all of it, seems wrong to me. And it definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people. This certainly does not stop the war. From answers to journalists’ questions. (1/3)
