An ascendant Motion Ward follow up that recent stunner from Cancer House with a debut tape from elusive new signee Gustav Kemps, tipped FFO Loren Connors, Empress, Taku Sugimoto and Craig Tattersall (The Remote Viewer, The Humble Bee etc)

For @pitchfork I wrote about The Moth, the debut from Cancer House. They’re one of my fav bands in Chicago right now, melding 90s slowcore and post-rock and even emo in one of the best downer records I’ve heard in some time. It’s out now via @motionward.

New debut LP coming from Cancer House, Chicago's best new slowcore band. Their 2024 demos were already sick, and based on these two new songs, I'm already thinking of Slowdive's 'Pygmalion', Bark Psychosis, and the scrappier Hood releases... perfect.

Oh man this is stunning - an early AOTY contender from Cancer House, a shadowy collective who operate at the slowcore/post-rock nexus - highly tipped IYI Talk Talk, Bark Psychosis or Hood.
Trust, it’s a special one
