Stablecoins work best when money has to move fast to people who need it. While many others collected donations for Nepal in a more traditional sense, we built a path that leverages blockchain technology that lands as local currency in the government's relief fund.
The campaign is powered by Polygon's Open Money Stack, Coinme, and @CrossRiverBank. Blockchain for Impact has already pledged $100,000.
No one's pain matters more because of geography. But some tragedies just hit differently when they touch a place that's part of your own story, and Nepal has always felt close to home for me.
I was born in the Kumaon belt of Uttarakhand, India, right alongside Nepal, and my maternal family comes from that same region. Communities on both sides of the border have been connected for generations, through family, culture, faith, food, trade and everyday life. India and Nepal have what we often call "Roti-Beti ka rishta," ties of family and shared life that run far deeper than a line on a map, and Prime Minister Modi, speaking recently about Nepal, called its people our brothers and sisters.
I want to do my small part to stand with them, and I hope you'll join me. This campaign lets people around the world contribute in stablecoins to support relief and rebuilding efforts in Nepal.

The Interfold generalizes that pattern into a network for confidential coordination.
More people should know about the Interfold.
It's basically what I've been yelling at people to build with the MACI ideas ( ethresear.ch/t/minimal-anti-… ) for almost a decade, and now it exists, in a generalized form.
The idea is: a privacy protocol optimized for things like voting (and other use cases eg. secret-ballot auctions). The mechanism generates a threshold encryption key, and people send in their votes onchain, using a ZKP to prove eligibility. An arbitrary computation on the votes gets run inside FHE, and then threshold-decrypted.
From what I can tell (the docs are good docs.theinterfold.com/CRISP/… ), it gets pretty optimal security guarantees:
* Voter anonymity can be made unconditional if eligibility is proven with ZK-SNARKs
* Censorship resistance is guaranteed by ethereum (votes can be posted directly onchain, and there's a proof that all posted votes are taking into account)
* The correctness of the outputted result can be ensured via ZK over FHE
* Liveness and coercion resistance depend on M-of-N honesty; unavoidable given present-day technology
The main limitation is that today "ZK over FHE" is only properly available for additive vote tallying, as it's too expensive for computations that involve multiplication or other more complicated manipulation at the moment. There's work in progress on slashing-based / optimistic computation for such situations.
(And of course ideally in the long term we'd figure out obfuscation so you can get rid of the M-of-N committees😃)

Iranian students seeking admission to universities abroad are facing new uncertainty over access to tests such as TOEFL, GRE and Duolingo after Washington suspended a 12-year sanctions authorization covering academic exchanges, admissions services and standardized exams.
The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, or OFAC, indefinitely suspended General License G on August 24 as part of the Trump administration’s latest campaign to intensify economic pressure on the Islamic Republic.
The license had since 2014 provided the legal basis for US universities, testing companies and other American entities to offer a range of educational services to Iranian people.
OFAC has allowed transactions necessary to wind down activities previously covered by the license until September 8. After that, services that are otherwise prohibited under US sanctions would require another applicable authorization or a specific license from the Treasury.

پژوهشگران امنیتی، ۱۸ افزونه گوگل کروم و یک افزونه مایکروسافت اج را شناسایی کرده‌اند که به کدهای سرقت اطلاعات، ربودن عبارت بازیابی و تخلیه کیف پول‌های ارز دیجیتال مجهز شده‌اند.
🔸این عملیات که شرکت امنیتی سوکت (Socket) آن را با نام «Superior» ردیابی می‌کند، احتمالا از فوریه ۲۰۲۴ فعال بوده است. نسخه‌های آلوده این افزونه‌ها نیز طی شش ماه گذشته در فروشگاه‌های رسمی کروم و اج منتشر شده‌اند.
مهاجمان در برخی موارد ابتدا یک افزونه سالم منتشر می‌کردند و پس از افزایش تعداد کاربران، بدافزار را از طریق به‌روزرسانی خودکار به آن اضافه می‌کردند. در پنج مورد نیز افزونه‌های معتبر و دارای کاربر را از سازندگان قبلی خریده و بعدا به ابزار جاسوسی و سرقت تبدیل کرده‌اند.

🔸این بدافزارها می‌توانند دکمه‌های واقعی اتصال کیف پول و تبدیل ارز را دست‌کاری کنند و کاربر را به تایید یک تراکنش مخرب بکشانند.
کیف پول‌های مبتنی بر شبکه‌های اتریوم، سولانا و ترون و همچنین حساب‌های Binance، Coinbase، Kraken، OKX، MEXC، KuCoin، Bybit و MetaMask از اهداف شناسایی‌شده بوده‌اند.
◾️اگر یکی از این افزونه‌ها را نصب کرده‌اید:
1️⃣ وارد نشانی chrome://extensions یا edge://extensions شوید و افزونه را فورا حذف کنید.
2️⃣ اگر هنگام نصب بودن افزونه از کیف پول استفاده کرده یا عبارت بازیابی خود را وارد کرده‌اید، کیف پول قدیمی را قابل اعتماد ندانید. روی یک دستگاه پاک، کیف پول تازه‌ای بسازید و دارایی باقی‌مانده را به آن منتقل کنید.
3️⃣دسترسی‌های صادرشده برای قراردادها و توکن‌ها را بررسی و دسترسی‌های ناشناس را لغو کنید. تغییر رمز کیف پول به‌تنهایی، عبارت بازیابی سرقت‌شده را بی‌اعتبار نمی‌کند.
4️⃣ رمز صرافی‌ها و حساب‌های مهم را با دستگاهی مطمئن تغییر دهید، نشست‌های فعال را ببندید و ورود دومرحله‌ای را فعال کنید.
5️⃣ کامپیوتر را با یک ابزار امنیتی به‌روز اسکن کنید.
🔴نکته مهم:
حضور یک افزونه در فروشگاه رسمی کروم یا اج، تضمینی برای سالم ماندن همیشگی آن نیست؛ یک افزونه معتبر ممکن است فروخته شود و با یک به‌روزرسانی خودکار به بدافزار تبدیل شود. هنگام انتشار گزارش شرکت امنیتی سوکت (Socket)، نسخه کروم افزونه پرمخاطب این مجموعه حذف شده بود، اما نسخه اج آن همچنان فعال گزارش شده بود.

Duolingo English Test will no longer be available in Iran or to users presenting Iranian IDs — even if they take the test abroad.
It is a sanctions-related restriction following OFAC’s suspension of Iran General License G, which had allowed certain educational services, including standardized testing.
The impact is significant for Iranian students and applicants.
DET was one of the cheapest and most accessible English tests.
