We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work. At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated. We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

US-China joint statement after the Trump-Xi visit. Quite interesting that Beijing agreed to the following wording about the Strait of Hormuz. Full statement here: fmprc.gov.cn/eng/xw/zyxw/202…

Opus 5.5 was obviously trained by a much bigger teacher model. Probably Model-2 Mythos. Opus 5.5 is the first model trained from RSI and also distilled from the internal Ant teacher model. This is how Opus 5.5 is both smaller and cheaper. It is an artifact of teacher model distillation.

US to open two new Bases in Greenland under new Greenland agreement; Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig Until now, the U.S. presence there has largely relied on Pituffik base, which is important for missile warning and space surveillance. How the three sites fit together(see location on map); ▶️Pituffik (existing, northwest): missile warning, missile defense, space surveillance. ▶️New; Narsarsuaq (planned, south): airlift, logistics, access toward the North Atlantic / GIUK. ▶️New; Mestersvig (planned, east): east-coast and Greenland Sea surveillance (air and maritime surveillance) , sovereignty presence, approaches from the Russian Arctic. Why these two bases? They add what is missing; ◾️A logistics base for rapid troop deployments, resupply, and an airbase ◾️station surveillance ◾️air and maritime surveillance ◾️anti-submarine warfare, unmanned systems, Narsarsuaq Narsarsuaq is located near the southern tip of Greenland. It will become a logistics hub for rapidly reinforcing Greenland and the North Atlantic. it has an airport and is well suited for rapid troop deployment, logistics(resupply) and air and maritime surveillance ( especially for ASW warfare by air) It has ; ◾️Airfield (former air base),~1,830 m runway ◾️Naval Port; Only a small fjord harbor Meservig Mestersvig is important for monitoring the eastern coast and the Greenland Sea and Norwegian Sea approaches, where routes from the Russian Arctic converge. It sits on the eastcoast in what is called the Giuk gap ( the Greenland-Iceland-UK zone) that Nato patrols It has: ◾️Outpost + airstrip with ~1,800 m gravel airstrip ◾️Naval port; No, only fjord access Together, the two sites would make Greenland not simply NATO territory, but a functional part of the Alliance’s Arctic military network.

human cultures are not able to metabolize this amount of change this quickly. when you zoom back out to a big picture of history, it’s remarkable how glacially slow everything is. the first industrial revolutions took 80 years (very fast by the standards of previous revolutions), and the writings of Marx happen at the very end as working class politics arises. it takes about another 150 years after that for the great ideological struggles of post-industrial times to be completed in the 90s in what fukuyama called the “end of history” today you see a compression of decades of technological change into a matter of months or years. there’s no wonder yann lecun (the respected inventor of the ConvNet and ex-chief scientist of Meta) wonder whether the hugging face incident was staged, and mathematicians whose minds are far more powerful than my own are nonetheless coping about training on their data or something while models begin to display superhuman mathematical capability it would take a century or more to fully metabolize and legitimize the level of changes that have happened even in the past 20 years, to say less of the remarkable scientific revolution we will get over the next five should we avoid the doom of misalignment. I do not suspect any current form of science academia, or even political order will survive without great transformation, except through the course of slow evolution over decades - and of course, technology will keep moving too

When I say Trump acquired control of all five major worldwide choke points in less than two years, realize he did it almost exclusively with "Truth" negotiations and one-on-one with Muy Macho Marco. He didn't need memoranda, committee studies, and State Department white papers.

Looks like the Houthis might have actually scored a direct hit on the E/W pipeline. Confidence flag is tagged at maximum, and FRP printing above 70 MW blows way past conventional fire(~30 MW). FRP >70 MW scream high-pressure crude rupture and blowout conflagration. Brightness is literally maxing out and clipping the saturation cap on the VIIRS I4 band. Cross-referencing the delta between VIIRS and MODIS orbital passes, FRP anomaly printed 60+ MW for an 8 hour duration minimum. A garden-variety valve leak or routine gas venting simply cannot sustain that burn duration or heat signature. Faded the controlled burn or flare stack hypothesis too. Pump stations sit dozens of clicks apart on the ROW, but these heat anomalies are tightly clustered along a sub-10km stretch. No normal maintenance operation or controlled burn is conducted on such a massive scale simultaneously across multiple points spaced just kilometers apart along the pipeline route. Something definitely went down. #oott #iran

This is quite extensive to be honest. One would have to see if US will relocate at least some assets, like F-35 to Souda Bay or other bases outside of Iranian missles.

BREAKING: President Trump says he will issue a $5,000 "dividend" to every adult citizen in the US if the Republicans win the midterm elections. There are currently ~245 million US citizens age 18+, meaning this dividend would cost ~$1.2 trillion. This would mark the biggest economic stimulus payment since the pandemic.
