Never been so terrified by a countdown… or so relieved by an anticlimactic ending!
Japan just had its own version of the Hawaii missile scare. At around 12:40, an emergency alert was broadcasted warning of an imminent magnitude 9.9 earthquake off the coast of Hokkaido.
A magnitude 9.9 earthquake, if it happened, would be the strongest earthquake ever recorded, releasing approximately 22 times more energy than the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake.
Fortunately just minutes later the earthquake alert was withdrawn and confirmed to be a false alarm. But for those few minutes, people across the country held their breath bracing for a potentially catastrophic earthquake that ultimately never came.

"A 2024 study estimated that 400 million people around the world have long COVID1, with an annual economic burden of around US$1 trillion..
[It is suggested that] around 6% of adults have long COVID..
Evidence points to dysregulated immune cells, chronic low-level inflammation and autoantibodies — immune cells that attack the body’s own tissues [in the long COVID patients]..
SARS-CoV-2 persists in some form.
It can also reactivate other dormant viruses3, in particular those in the herpesvirus family..
Studies have also shown that small blood vessels and the endothelial cells that line them are damaged.
The autonomic nervous system, which regulates heart rate and breathing, is frequently affected and the gut microbiota altered.
Mitochondria, the cell’s power plants, are often damaged; this could contribute to symptoms of fatigue..
[Dr. Scheibenbogen says that] what would happen to us if we ran a marathon happens to ME patients from climbing two stairs."

I am better than I was but not where I want to be. I still am unable to work due to my symptoms, even if I tried I would probably make myself worse or relapse. My labs look better, my plasma is now clear, people say I look better which is good, im grateful for that. I am still producing a large amount of covid spike antibodies though. I am still in large debt from my Japan trip, and running out of money to live off of. Debating whether to sell my family home for income. So my mental health hasn't been the best.
I need to see a neurosurgeon in Maryland to evaluate my unstable neck at C1 and C2 with a CSF blockage at C1. He is out-of-pocket and cost $1250 for initial eval. If anyone can help me out with that it would be much appreciated 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼.
Please share if you can. All money will go to my debt from Japan trip and to see this specialist, travel expenses to Maryland.

Dolly Parton on supporting the LGBTQ+ community (2016): “I do not believe we should criticize and judge other people. If you’re the fine Christian you think you are, why are you judging people? Four in ten. Never, ever listen to anyone who says Long Covid is rare. It is not.
Four in ten healthcare workers worldwide who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 during the pandemic developed long covid, and a quarter still had symptoms after a year, a report has found

⚡ #LongCOVID “brain fog” is beginning to reveal a measurable electrical signature in the brain.
➡️ EEG recordings from people with LongCOVID showed abnormal activity in the sensorimotor cortex, including a weaker post-movement beta rebound and slower alpha rhythms. 1/
Proof again - PEM is real.
Pretty stunning clip I’d never seen before comparing patients with post exertional malaise to healthy controls after 25 min of excercise — fantastic vid to watch to better understand #LongCovid & #MECFS

Chronic illness steals things people never see.
Careers. Friendships. Savings. Confidence. Time.
An unappreciated tough part of chronic illness can be pretending to be okay because the world only understands the illness it can see it.
Pale skin. Hair loss. Hospital beds. That’s the image most of us have of what illness looks like … because that’s what movies and TV taught us.
But millions of people live with autoimmune disease, chronic pain, and other conditions that don’t show up on the outside. And we routinely make them prove they’re suffering before we believe them.
I’m one of them.
I have a post-viral autoimmune condition. I’ve been housebound for 3 of the last 5 years. In any photo you’d see of me, I’ll look fine because I will always look fine in a photo. That was never proof I was okay.
I need help getting to a treatment in Japan that isn’t available to me here. Even $5 would make a difference 🙏

Infections + injections = danger...
Bonne journée

Vagal tone activity acts as a top down inflammatory control instance where its efferent neurons lower inflammation via activation of nAch receptors on macrophages
Switching it on and off reliably is one key pathway to resilience as else, any inflammatory insult will yield a highly disproportional inflammatory pattern, which can lead to chronic inflammatory phenotypes
This cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway could potentially be suppressed in patients suffering from certain chronic gut diseases like IBS or IBD, as indicated by studies showing impairment in the brain regions associated with the ANS/Vagus
Electrical vagal stimulation, Meditation, Breathing exercises are all good
Additionally, high dosage thiamine, choline, pantothenic acid are critical nutrients needed for Ach production
Others have reported that direct mitochondrial agents like CoQ10 or PQQ could increase their HRV, which is an interesting bioenergetic angle

Brain fog in #LongCOVID may not be one disease—but several distinct brain disorders.
➡️ Using advanced MRI network analysis, researchers identified two neurobiologically distinct subtypes of LongCOVID with cognitive symptoms.
➡️ One subgroup showed objective gray matter loss in the cerebellum and putamen, while the other had no detectable structural abnormalities, highlighting striking biological heterogeneity. 1/

🔴 I think it is time to start taking seriously the disease model we have been proposing for Long COVID and ME/CFS.
For years, we have argued that persistent viral reservoirs may be the initiating event connecting many of the mechanisms observed in these diseases:
-Chronic antigenic stimulation.
-Immune hyperactivation.
-T-cell exhaustion.
-Reactivation of latent herpesviruses.
-Chronic inflammation.
-Loss of immune tolerance.
-Autoimmunity in genetically susceptible individuals.
A new study has now identified the kind of cellular response that this model predicts:
Persistent, virus-specific, cytolytic and exhausted CD8⁺ T cells directed not only against SARS-CoV-2, but also against EBV and CMV.
This is not simply “an immune system that forgot to switch itself off.”
These lymphocytes recognize viral antigens.
The more important question is:
What continues stimulating them?
