When's the last time it had actual original news coverage?
ESPN should rebrand ESPNews to either ESPN weather delay or ESPN Climate Change.

Putting Ohio State-Kent State as the Big Noon game instead of ASU-Kansas or Maryland-Virginia Tech.... idk man. Especially since Ohio State hosts Big Noon vs. Illinois next week anyway.
Gus Johnson is just as bored of Ohio State's blowout of Kent State as you are.

Peter King, who spent 32 on the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee, expresses concern about recent changes to the process, which included the seemingly arbitrary jettisoning of highly qualified voters. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

The revamped @ProFootballHOF process appears haphazard and just as misguided as always. The selection process may be even more flawed, well-credentialed voters were removed, and voters who have expressed bias in the past remain on the committee. Time to start anew.
That Rick Gosselin, the most conscientious and well-researched member of the @ProFootballHOF selection committee I saw in my 32 years as a voter, has been removed from the voting group gives me doubts about the future of the Hall. It’s outrageous.

Tim Brando was spot on here! I’ve witnessed & heard stories of how SIDs no longer have direct access to the coach of the programs they cover, which is wild to me. I still think this is the minority but it’s happening more frequently though. awfulannouncing.com/college-…

And this is part of where the EA/rationalist origin of the AI labs comes through. They're articulating a future that might have high "aggregate spreadsheet utility" but which isn't very relatable. And which is maybe is a bit wrong/naive about real human preferences.

It's not that hard to do it! In fact, if you ask the models, they do a pretty good job (e.g., much better health care, AI makes work less tedious, most people still work but for slightly fewer hours). The impression one gets from the labs sometimes is singularity/utopia or doom.

One political problem for AI labs is that they can't articulate an optimistic medium-term future that sounds broadly good for humanity without also sounding incredibly weird, having huge wealth/power disparities, or both.

This is my first time seeing ESPN's new intro for NFL studio shows, and it seems like the trend of ESPN barely even having theme music is continuing.

(Another benefit of ESPN owning NFL Network: chances to catch NFL Matchup, generally considered one of the better analysis shows, at actually relatively sane times, including leading in to GameDay Morning.)

Pat McAfee: "We certainly appreciate the hell out of the American military. And if you're not the United States of America and you hear that sound, your ass better run." Rece Davis: "That's the one thing the two sides here can agree on, for sure."

I've started to get mobile-game ads that not only autoplay sound but have a speaker icon that doesn't work and require a certain amount of time to elapse before there's any way out of them, and I will *never* have *anything* to do with any product advertised that way.
