There may be no clearer indictment of recent failures in veterinary education than the popularity of basic competency courses for new graduates.

For all you d@*n yankees(fyi- "d@*n yankees" are the ones that visited and never left). The Andy Griffith show is the official television show of the State of North Carolina and is to be watched often and with reverence. As a new arrival(less than 20 years here), you will soon be expected to recall random episodes in conversations. Lack of knowledge of episodes and dialogue is considered a serious deficiency and red flag which may result in not being invited to social gatherings *color episodes including episodes of Mayberry RFD as well as B&W episodes without Barney Fife can be ignored

My Mamaw's older sister was murdered by her husband in their home in the small mountain community where they and their extended families lived. On August 2nd, he fired through the window of their house as she was standing in the kitchen, killing her while their 4 children(12,9,7and 5) were nearby. He fled but was captured a short time later by a small posse. He denied the killing. He was tried, found guilty and sentenced to death. He died in the electric chair at Central prison in Raleigh on the following July 15th, LESS THAN A YEAR later. He confessed to the murder once he realized he was soon to meet his maker. Dad remembers her children living with them at times when he was a child.

Every old equine Vet that's put down a hundred horses when someone asks them "how could that killer in Tennessee not die after 2 injections of lethal chemicals?"
