Starlink: a SpaceX satellite constellation for providing broadband internet service to consumers. Starshield: a SpaceX business unit focused on leveraging Starlink technologies for military use. Starshield, in its colloquial uses: using Starlink for military purposes. Or, a misnomer for... Space Data Network (formerly MILNET): A US Space Force Space Systems Command/National Reconnaissance Office jointly acquired system to provide a data network infrastructure in space. Glad we could clear this up. God, we collectively suck at naming things.

5 years ago, everyone was claiming that Starlink was an impossible pipe dream, it would never scale, it would never be profitable, dumbass Elon. Today, everyone is claiming that they are going to build and launch and maintain their own LEO constellation like it's no big deal.
Canada announces: Telesat, homegrown satellites, will be expanded and Starlink usage will soon be removed. This is what every country on earth should do asap.

Guys re-industrialization is happening and has been happening for most of 2026
US rail traffic is surging, with intermodal and carload volumes hitting new highs. This isn't just a few bright spots; growth is broad-based across nearly all industrial sectors, driven by tight trucking capacity and high diesel prices

True, even SpaceX’s competitor’s FUTURE plans are behind Starship 🤣🤣
Ok so yeah... $SPCX has no competition. None. And that's today, before Starship becomes their mainstream rocket. Starship widens the moat *considerably* more. The competition is so far behind, they may as well be on another planet. Even the competitor's future plans are behind!

📸On Starship S44 (Ship that will not fly before the 17th flight), the “S44” decal was spotted. Previously, the ships were distinguished by the condition of the heat shield. But now they are absolutely identical, and I think they decided to apply the decal in a serial manner❗️

Starbase road delay: Production to Pad delay tomorrow, Oct 19, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Booster 22 finished its cryo test back on Sept 10. So this factory-to-pad move could be B22 heading out for a static fire.
Starship Flight 15 (B22 + S42) update: Ship 42 already had its engines pulled and did an extra cryo test. Booster 22 still hasn’t done a static fire, and neither one has started static fires yet. Unofficial NET is Nov 8, and Elon said about 4–6 weeks out, before Thanksgiving. Catching the Ship is way harder than the Booster. The Booster comes back about 7 minutes after launch with almost no heat shield stress. The Ship has to come back from orbit at Mach 25+, survive the plasma, still have its tiles, flaps, and engines in good shape, get the propellant right, and hit the chopsticks almost perfectly. It also has to fly over land, which makes the safety and regulatory side a lot stricter. Booster catches are already proven. Ship catch is still a brand new, high-risk thing. And because they want to try catching the Ship, the FAA license can’t just reuse the one from Flight 14. That approval process is gonna be another bottleneck on the schedule.

Spent some time at @NASAKennedy this past Friday. Really impressed with the progress under @brianhughes and the @NASAArtemis and EGS leadership. By nearly every measure, the team has found efficiencies and improved the stacking process, cutting the schedule by 50%. The machine shops are running around the clock, not just at KSC, but across all the Centers. The rebuilding of core competencies are making NASA builders again and ensuring we have the engineers, technicians, and operators capable of doing the work. I also toured the pad rebuild work at @blueorigin. @JeffBezos and @davill have done an outstanding leading and motivating the workforce. The Blue team has a fire in them like we have never seen before. They are making believers out of many that once doubted the timelines. In all cases, be that in the VAB, helping our partners out at the pad, or working on the landers, suits, and rovers, @NASA is energized. We have our SME's embedded throughout the supply chain, and doing the work to ensure the outcomes you have been patiently waiting for will soon be safely achieved.
#ICYMI: The booster's for NASA's Artemis III mission are officially stacked! Next up, the SLS core stage will be integrated with the boosters, completing the rocket’s “short stack” configuration that will be used during a future tanking test. Learn more: go.nasa.gov/4BcsSLa

I’m old enough to remember some of the Apollo astronauts testifying in front of Congress against Musk and SpaceX. Not a single one has ever apologized.
It will turn out that the "confirmed" rumors of SpaceX's lack of progress were once again a pack of lies directed at Congress, just like with Crew Dragon. No one, not a soul, will learn to be more skeptical of rumors.

Lina, you don't know the honest truth. In the military, you got your POGs... Person Other than a Grunt. Guys who don't shoot anything. You need them, because you need all sorts of specialties, but you can't trust their big-picture judgement, because the overall mission of the military is shootin' people, and they don't do that. In civilization, we have POMs. Person Other than a Maker. Dudes what don't build things. You might need them. But you shouldn't take them too seriously, or listen to them too much, because on some fundamental level, they are never going to get it. They are never going to understand. The fundamental task of civilization is making things, and POMs don't do that. "This is just a mash-up of existing technology" is the most POM-like typing you could ever hope to see. It's a tell that someone has never done a significant engineering project in a technical role. Experienced engineers not only understand differently, we eat, sleep and breathe the basic reality that 99% of engineering challenges are "get mechanism to work with other mechanism". Without breaking, shaking itself apart or blowing up. Every basic scientific principle behind the internal combustion automobile was understood by the ancient Greeks and Romans. And yet they were not only unable to harness those principles to make a primitive steam-powered automobile, they were unable to conceive of the very idea, because their ability to implement and integrate wasn't advanced enough. If you look at everything that Elon Musk has ever done, every company he has ever built, every technology he has ever brought to market, none of it was a purely new invention. It was ALL taking stuff that already kinda worked, and making it do new things. And not just do them, but do them so well that they actually became practical. SpaceX didn't invent the rocket. They made it reusable. Tesla didn't invent the electric motor or the battery. They made them practical for ground transportation. Neurallink didn't invent electrical nerve interfaces. They made them control a computer UI. This shit is incredibly hard. If you try to use the known principle of a cold-gas thruster to make a car fly, you're going to crash and blow up a lot. You're going to have to make mistakes, and fix them, one by one, until you run out of mistakes and the thing flies. Real engineers, real makers, know that this is what the word engineering means. POMs don't get it. Lina doesn't understand what she saw. She thinks she saw a publicity stunt to impress yokels. No. That was a publicity stunt to impress engineers. It wasn't a demonstration of a flying car at all. It was a demonstration of the engineering capabilities of team. It was a flex. "Look," they said, "we can reify the Gernsback continuum. Give us your silliest, low-effort science fiction meme tech, and give us enough time, and we'll make it real." The purpose of making a flying car isn't to let you do a jetpack leap over traffic. It's to learn all the little implementation details and balancing tradeoffs and gotchas that you have to master to make a car fly. It's not the big scientific discoveries that build civilization. By themselves, they are nothing but curiosities. What builds civilization is all the little discoveries that you make when you try to get the big ones to stop crashing and blowing up. When someone does that on a unprecedented level, you either help them, or you stay out of the way and keep your ignorant POM opinions to yourself.

I'm not an Elon hater. I'm just telling you the Honest Truth: This is a marketing stunt. The technology is quite old. Just nobody ever thought of bolting it on a car. Because it's pointless. Porsche or Ferrari could also build something like this if they wanted, but they don't, because it's not worth it for them. It's worth it for Elon though, because his entire brand is all about having the halo of futurism. His marketing scales especially well with tech gimmicks like this, which is why he is financially incentivised to do them, while others aren't. Again, I'm not hating, but actually educating yall. This is not engineering genius. It's marketing genius.

It makes me proud of my country. But equally and perhaps more importantly, it makes me proud of my civilization. It makes me want to yell at every downshouter, every Communist, everybody who would have tried to force Elon to file an environmental impact statement before this test if they could have figured out how to do so: "Freedom did this. You did not."
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s okay to be proud of your country and the fact that we have flying cars.

Hate to dox myself a bit but have worked on just about every fighter jet the US has. I have seen some impressive technology over my career but this is a whole other level. I have so many questions and need to know how this works. How much edge compute is needed to make this happen? My first thought is dual processor + 1TB ram. That way it can handle the fuckquintillion process per second. There was zero correction it nailed it 100%.

I think the worst part about getting older is being robbed of your sense of wonder. I dreamt of flying cars as a little boy, but the big auto manufacturers wouldn’t let me have it. I am old now and I get it. “The real world” with its “real problems” put limits on what was “practical.” Cars got uglier. Insurance companies got greedier. And some dreams that were more sacred than the dollar were laid to rest. But for the first time in like 30 years, I feel like a kid again. I don’t care if this is just a demo or if it won’t actually make it to production or if I will never be able to afford it (courtesy of “the real world” and its limits on what is “practical”). The dream is worth something.
Real life, baby

Umm actually it’s just compressed air in high-pressure vessels with fast valves and computers coordinating them to produce thrust to do barrel rolls it’s not actually producing lift via traditional wings idiots
