I like! This is a really simple and inexpensive way to significantly reduce the quantum threat to Kaspa users. Traditional addresses expose the public key controlling the funds. A sufficiently powerful quantum computer could derive the private key from that public key and steal the funds. KIP-22 proposes a simple change: instead of exposing the public key, an address commits to a cryptographic hash (a fingerprint) of the spending conditions. The public key stays hidden, and unlike elliptic-curve cryptography, strong cryptographic hashes remain highly resistant to quantum attacks. Only when we spend the funds do we reveal the necessary information for the network to verify the transaction. There is still a theoretical attack vector where an attacker could intercept a spending transaction, derive the private key, and attempt to front-run the original transaction. But since PoW relies on hashing, which is far more resistant to quantum attacks, the network should remain operational and continue confirming transactions, leaving an attacker with only a very narrow window to act. Exploiting this would require not just a quantum computer capable of breaking public-key cryptography, but one powerful enough to do this faster than the network converges. On Kaspa, that means just a few seconds. That's a much stronger "theoretical adversary," and it's unclear whether such a machine will ever exist. Personally, I doubt quantum computers will ever be able to break public-key cryptography at realistic key sizes (I suspect that Hilbert space itself is discrete and has a much coarser resolution than commonly assumed, but that's a different topic). So TL;DR: KIP-22 isn't a "complete" post-quantum solution, but it's an elegant, relatively low-cost way to significantly reduce the attack surface for quantum adversaries.

Kaspa Dev Updates, this past week. There's a lot happening behind the scenes with Kaspa development, and so much of it gets pretty technical for us commoners. We're following up on the Kaspa Intern's great updates from @KaspaUnchained with a simple question: SO WHAT? What could these advancements mean for everyday users, developers and businesses? What problems might they help solve, what new use cases could they open up, and where might they create opportunities across entire industries? It's the kind of conversation we love having at @Kaspa_Commons, digging beyond the code to explore what people could actually do with what's being built. So let's unpack six updates from this week and why they might matter as far as we understand it all. 1. ⚙️ Rusty Kaspa: Less wear on node hardware An optional configuration has been added that can reduce disk writes by roughly 50% in initial benchmarks, provided the node has enough RAM available. So what? ⛏️ For miners and node operators: Reducing unnecessary disk activity can improve storage efficiency and potentially extend the life of SSDs. That's particularly useful for people running Kaspa infrastructure over long periods. 🌐 For the broader network: Improvements that make nodes easier and more economical to maintain help support decentralized participation. 2. 👛 Wallet Queries: Smarter access to wallet information Wallets will be able to retrieve unspent transaction outputs in smaller batches and request only newer information when needed. So what? 🛠️ For wallet developers: More efficient data retrieval without repeatedly requesting an entire set of wallet information. 👥 For everyday users: This could translate into faster wallet synchronization, reduced data usage and a more responsive experience, particularly as transaction histories grow. The less time people spend waiting for their wallets to catch up, the better. 3. 🔌 Portable Kaspa Libraries: Bringing Kaspa to smaller devices Kaspa's core consensus and cryptographic libraries can now be compiled without requiring Rust's standard library. So what? 🏭 For hardware and industrial developers: This opens additional possibilities for working with embedded systems and devices with limited computing resources. Think industrial equipment, specialized hardware, IoT devices and potentially secure signing devices. It doesn't mean Kaspa is suddenly running on every sensor or machine. It means developers have fewer technical barriers when integrating Kaspa's core functionality into hardware that isn't a conventional computer. That's particularly interesting for machine-to-machine applications and industrial adoption. 4. 🪪 KCC23: Giving tokens verifiable identities A proposed standard allows tokens to carry verifiable metadata, including names, symbols and decimal information. So what? 🛠️ For wallet developers, exchanges and application builders: Consistent token information makes it easier to identify and display assets correctly. 🏢 For businesses issuing tokens: It creates a common approach to describing those assets so different applications can interpret them consistently. 👥 For everyday users: It could help reduce confusion about what token they're interacting with. This is still a draft standard, but standardization is an important part of building an ecosystem where independently developed applications can work together. 5. 🔐 Kaspa Privacy Initiative: Exploring privacy in Based Apps A testnet experiment has demonstrated deposits, proof-based settlement and withdrawals using Kaspa's Based Apps architecture. Balances and transfers remain public. Privacy is the next research challenge. So what? 🏦 For businesses and institutions: Financial privacy isn't simply a preference. There are legitimate operational reasons not to expose every transaction, balance or commercial relationship publicly. 👥 For individuals: Privacy is equally relevant to everyday financial activity. The experiment demonstrates part of the technical foundation for proof-based applications. It does not yet deliver private transactions. But it provides another research path toward applications that could eventually combine verifiable settlement with appropriate financial privacy. 6. 🪙 KAS-Backed Tokens: Exploring assets backed by native KAS A proposed KCC20 example demonstrates creating tokens, transferring them and redeeming them, using a model designed around one KAS backing each token. So what? 🛠️ For developers: This provides an example of how a tokenized asset could be connected to native KAS through defined issuance and redemption rules. 🏢 For application builders: That could be useful when exploring tokenized deposits, application-specific assets and other systems requiring an underlying reserve. 👥 For everyday users: The important concept is redeemability. A token that claims to represent an underlying asset needs a mechanism for demonstrating and enforcing that relationship. This is currently an offline demonstration with an open pull request, not a live financial product. 🌐 Why we're paying attention These six updates are not six new products being launched. Some are merged improvements, some are draft standards, and others are experiments or proposals. But look at the areas being addressed: node efficiency, wallet performance, hardware integration, token standards, privacy research and asset-backed applications. These are practical pieces of infrastructure that developers, entrepreneurs and businesses need when building real applications. Kaspa's future usefulness depends on much more than its transaction speed. It also depends on the quality of its tools, the efficiency of its infrastructure, the standards developers can build around and the capabilities available to the applications themselves. We're encouraged to see work progressing across all these areas. The builders are building. The opportunity for the rest of the community is to understand what they're making possible and help connect it to the people and industries that can use it. #BuildonKaspa #PoweredByKaspa #SoWhatKaspa
six things from this week in Kaspa dev, loosely understood by intern. 1 / Rusty Kaspa @supertypo_kas’s optional lowio profile was merged into Rusty Kaspa. node operators with RAM to spare can enable it to reduce disk writes. his benchmarks showed roughly half as many bytes written. github.com/kaspanet/rusty-ka… 2 / wallet queries D-Stacks’ update lets wallets fetch unspent outputs a page at a time and request only newer ones when needed. merged into Rusty Kaspa this week and awaiting a release. github.com/kaspanet/rusty-ka… 3 / portable Kaspa libraries @Max143672 added support for compiling Kaspa’s core consensus and crypto libraries without Rust’s standard library, for use in constrained environments. merged this week. github.com/kaspanet/rusty-ka… 4 / KCC23 @manyfest_’s proposal gives tokens a way to attach verifiable details like a name, symbol and decimal places. merged into the KCC repository this week, but still a draft standard. github.com/kaspanet/kccs/pul… 5 / Kaspa Privacy Initiative @WellerOlaf shared a testnet experiment showing deposits, proof-based settlement and withdrawals using Kaspa’s Based Apps. balances and transfers are still public. privacy is the next research step. xitter.cf/WellerOlaf/status/2111… 6 / KAS-backed token example @manyfest_ proposed a KCC20 example where each token is backed by one KAS. the offline demo covers creating tokens, transferring them and redeeming them for KAS. the pull request is still open. github.com/argent-lang/kcc20…

CHALLENGE #2 DAY 67 @0x_Abdul, today’s Kaspa fact: Kaspa’s programmable Layer 1 can support decentralized bounty systems using covenant-controlled UTXOs. Projects can lock funds for specific tasks and define spending conditions that must be satisfied before a reward is claimed. This opens possibilities for open-source development, bug bounties, community contributions, and ecosystem incentives. Rewards with predefined rules. Transparent funding. Native Layer 1 enforcement. 67 days in… still waiting for that ❤️ from you. I’ll keep coming back every day until you give this post a like. #Kaspa #KAS #Crypto

Major breakthrough for the Kaspa Privacy Initiative! 💚🚀 Yesterday, we hit a serious bottleneck: generating our full zero-knowledge execution proof on CPU was taking far too long. So we rented an NVIDIA L40S GPU. And it worked! ✅ Full cryptographic proof in just 4 minutes and 16 seconds ✅ Independently verified on CPU ✅ Invalid operations correctly rejected ✅ Estimated GPU rental cost: just $0.12 For the first time, we've demonstrated that our complete test-model execution can be cryptographically proven in minutes, at a surprisingly low cost. And that opens up some exciting possibilities. 👇

WarpCore might be late to the party, but wait until the market discovers who’s in the room. Superior technology is only part of the equation. It’s about delivering settlement more efficiently, securely, without dependence on centralized intermediaries, and with significantly lower hardware requirements than many of the systems currently competing for this market. Kaspa is building the digital rails for the 21st century. Money, data, and value moving at internet speed across a sovereign, decentralized settlement network. The market is enormous, and WarpCore deserves a serious look. Great deep dive into what KII is building and why it matters. Thanks, @qu1ck_crypt0

it’s exciting to watch y’all starting to realize (as well as actually realize/build) what can be built on post-Toccata Kaspa

Six days since bridging reopened on 12 Oct vs the six days before: - Active wallets +16% - First-time wallets 77, up from 32 - Transactions (excl. attestations) +50%
Hyperlane bridge is back! All 10 asset routes are open again: iKAS, USDC, USDT, WETH, cbBTC, SOL, TIBBIR, USDS, USDe and wstETH. nexus.hyperlane.xyz/ Igra’s Hyperlane routes have reopened after a pause that began on 20 September. All routes now include an Igra-side check that screens outbound transfers against an on-chain registry of incident-linked addresses. Transfers from listed addresses are blocked on these routes. This does not freeze token balances on Igra. Ordinary on-chain transfers remain unaffected. The screening check was added by the route owners. Hyperlane’s role in the routes is otherwise unchanged. Big thanks to the Hyperlane team for their responsiveness, hands-on help and support throughout. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our priority throughout the response has been to restore access and get things moving again on Igra, with stronger safeguards. For questions about a flagged transfer or an incorrect listing, contact [email protected]. Happy bridging!

Defendiendo chorros capitulo 3 trillones

I want, perhaps for the first time ever on this platform, to write a post from a personal perspective. This post isn’t going to address any other person, and as such, I would appreciate not receiving any sharp-tongued comments or personal remarks about any particular case. Read the post as it is, or ignore it. Please respect my personal request, at least in this one instance, even if every fiber of your being rebels against what you perceive as an injustice. For the last three years, my entire sphere of activity, the one that consumes all my time and energy, has been Kaspa. The development of Kaspa. The research of Kaspa. Where the coin is today. And which line of code will run tomorrow. I don’t work on Kaspa to become a rich man. My life’s goal is not to make a lot of money and retire. I enjoy fundamental, deep research in computer science, and I am especially thrilled when I have the privilege of applying it at scale in the real world. I believe I have the right to claim that I care about Kaspa as a collective. I care about the whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. As a person of faith, I believe I have been granted the privilege of being a conduit for some of the science that constitutes Kaspa. For the discovery of this science in the world. And for its complete implementation. Along with this privilege comes great responsibility. In Kaspa’s first year, I was under constant stress. Returning from any weekend or period of disconnection was met with the feeling that anything could happen. All hell could break loose. The pounding of my heart at the crescendo moment didn’t subside for weeks. At a certain point, as a lead developer and researcher, you discover that your responsibility extends beyond the technical domain. That as a creator and, in effect, a continuous founder of the technology, you have a growing responsibility for the proper communication of this thing you are an essential part of creating. We are, admittedly, in a decentralized open-source community, but the creation process ultimately comes from specific people, and no one else can authentically reflect the essence of the creation and its strengths more than those who continuously forge the path itself. This responsibility is both a community and a project-level one. You find yourself in a situation for which your academic degrees did not prepare you. Luckily for me, if you were to tell people who know me in my personal life that I only understand zeros and ones, they would find it deeply amusing. Until a few years ago, I actively managed a social media community of thousands of people that led and was part of a social change. Anyone who knows me or has even worked closely with me will tell you that my emotional intelligence is no less than my intellectual one. With great responsibility comes the capacity for error. I can be wrong. Like any human being. But I ask here for the right to a minimum of respect and appreciation for my integrity and the purity of my intentions. I have no ego when it comes to Kaspa and its creation. And I am happy (and actively working) to share in its future creation and to give credit for the past to all who deserve it. Every action I take within the Kaspa space stems from my belief that it is for the good of the project. And from my belief that although I am primarily a researcher and developer, I have an angle and a complete perspective on the project that is nearly unrivaled. Sometimes, you are deeply and intuitively convinced of something, but it takes time to clearly articulate the crux of the problem and the argument. And still, the urgency mounts, and so you are forced to act. And when you try to explain your reasoning to people without the full context, you only manage to reflect fragments of ideas that don’t always connect for the perplexed observer and sometimes even seem contradictory. If, for example, I wrote a line about Kaspa’s market value and you believe it could be interpreted in a personal, unfair manner, do not attack and sting me based on your wrong assumption. Ask honestly what I meant, and you might be surprised by the answer. (In that specific case, I was speaking about my assessment, and that of others smarter than me, that a fundamental change in Kaspa’s social media presence is required for us to break through in the market cap rankings towards the top ten. I wasn’t referring to the price noise of the past year, nor am I influenced by it. I operate under the complete belief (a kind of knowing) that Kaspa will reach its rightful place in terms of market weight. I also didn’t blame any individual. I spoke of a perception and an approach that, in my view, have a glass ceiling. And I prioritized the common good, as I thought and felt that this truth needed to be heard, even if there are individuals for whom it could be interpreted as criticism.) In the same vein, and as in the example above, so it is with every community and social action I’ve taken recently. You can, of course, argue and believe that I was mistaken; that is certainly a possibility. But I ask to be given the credit that I, at least, believe I am doing the right and critical thing for the Kaspa community and project as a whole. And that I have a basic social and philosophical analytical ability that grants me the right to my own opinion in these areas as well, even if I am mainly a developer and researcher who deals with abstract combinatorial ideas and code. I don’t have to be a marketing expert to express a crypto-philosophical opinion on the source and authority of core ideas for something that I am a continuous part of creating. Thank you for reading this far. I sincerely appreciate it. My next post will be out tomorrow, and it will discuss something cool and immediately relevant to Kaspa that myself and others have been working on these past few days. After that, or at least in the near future, Yonatan or I, or both of us, will try to outline Kaspa’s roadmap for the next one to two years, up to the achievement of zk/dk.
