I was leading Heinz Ketchup when Dip N Squeeze came out.
It was a massive upgrade from ketchup packets. Consumers LOVED it.
Problem was we couldn’t get any of the big fast-food players on board.
Dip N Squeeze was 3-5x (I forget the exact numbers) more expensive than packets, and they were free for customers.
The key question was “does having Dip N Squeeze drive more volume?”, thus justifying the incremental cost.
It was nearly impossible to prove. Every penny matters to these operators, so every sales meeting was the same. “We love it, but no.”
Chick Fil A was the only yes.
They didn’t need “proof”. They operated under the assumption simply giving their customers a better experience would pay off in the long run. Incremental cost be damned.
Their conviction was impressive.
They viewed every decision thru the lens of their customer. A much different approach from the other big players.
I assume they treated countless other decisions the same way.
This was ~15 years ago. CFA has been on quite the run since.
(separate but related, I believe being a private co is a massive competitive advantage for CFA)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Dan Reese claims he "was leading Heinz Ketchup when Dip N Squeeze came out" ~2011, but has described himself as an MBA intern at Heinz then. Reports show Chick-fil-A and Dairy Queen used the packets early on, with others testing.

Belmont's Curse movement tech: By attacking right after starting an air dash, Rose keeps some forward momentum. This seems to be about 15% faster than slide -> air dash.
Works with any weapon type except Great Sword or Whip

YOURE SO FUCKING RIGHT they idolise apathy and cruelty in a way that, I think, reveals how performative they are. They're exhausted and annoyed by having to care about others.

its truly the height of performativity. they support woke policies only cuz they dont wanna be perceived as a bad person but they also alienate women & act as wantonly cruel as chuds cuz they think accomodating ppls feelings is effeminate & soy & will never earn them real respect

Life is better when you wfh and actually have a fucking life, friends, comfortable home. WFH is not what makes people miserable. Imagine wanting to have small talk and fake smiles on an elevator everyday with white people at 8 AM….no thanks

My strongest “vibes not evidence” belief is that remote work is a cancer that’s making (most) people miserable even though it seems better in the short term.

These fake men’s fashion girls are always a year + behind in what’s going on in actual men’s fashion, the trickle down that they’ve received is directly from one of their friends’ boyfriends in the west village. They don’t know shit

Most games are pretty simple. You jump on enemies, you die, you have to insert another quarter to continue. Disco Elysium changed that.

Justin Herbert could end up being the best thing to ever happen to the Chargers franchise and it all started because a team doctor literally almost killed Tyrod Taylor.
