25 years ago I was Shooting for United Airlines A new spot for business travel We were in Downtown San Francisco My Assistant and I were staying up on the 26th floor of the Hilton and gettin ready for our 7 AM call As I got out of the shower the News was on and They showed a Hole in the North Tower It looked like a large hole to me I had just been to the WTC in July and the Size of the towers are impressive The News folks were saying it might have been a small tourist plane but this was much lager opening than a small plane could make As I got ready to leave for set The Second Plane hit the second tower I felt in my heart this was an Attack We were shooting in the old Australian embassy building on Market street On the 11th flor As soon as I got to set the First building fell as we watched on the VTR's Monitor The Clients for United huddled and sprinted to the rental cars and began a drive back to New York We were then interrupted by Building security There were several planes still missing in the air and the evacuated the building We left the building going down the stairs and into the streets There were thousands of people on Market street All in a state of Shock We were told to go back to our Hotels Which was a bit chilling knowing my room was on the 26th floor I called my wife who was panicking and told her I wa safe and I would be coming home soon Unfortunately I had to stay another week to wrap the shoot and drive back to LA as the flights wer all grounded The Most difficult part was going to the Airport To see our United Coworkers and return United props I was in a truck and as we drove in to the airport area the Police approached us very carefully We showed them our call sheets and crew badges for United and were able to proceed but it was very hectic and sad day The flight that landed in a field in Shanksville was flying to CA We were planing to shoot it at the United Oakland facility in the following days It never made it there ...God bless the People who gave there lives to this terrible tragedy Our Coworkers who fought the hijackers with all there might And to those who gave there lives trying to save the innocents ! I will never forget the valor and there loss May God welcome them into his heaven and may those who survived cary there memory forward as a reminder of there bravery and strength as Americans A day we all gathered as one ! God bless those who lost there loved ones and to those injured by the attack on our Country We owe them a debt of gratitude and our deepest respect Let's roll to a better future for all !
