OK, I've had a little play with this 40B MoE Flint model, here are my findings. It's a good model but at 40B it needs to be compared to models a similar size and the Qwen3.6-35B MoE and Qwen3.8-27B are both smaller so make ideal candidates. See thread below...
Introducing Flint, @Recursive_SI’s first model: a fast local coding model built with our automated research system, the Eureka Machine. • Best-in-class fast local coding • Up to 2x faster than comparable models: 125+ tokens/sec on a MacBook Pro, 150+ on RTX Spark • Built from scratch in under 4 months Private, unmetered intelligence on your own machine. Open weights available now on @huggingface, run it locally on your favorite framework or try it for free on @opencode or @pidotdev.

wow this is bad! ENTIRETY of PingCap database used by linkedin, flipkart, airbnb etc. has been copied and stolen due to customer credentials being stored directly in support tickets (LOL) Attackers ran exfiltration directly on their cloud (LOL) pipeline ran for 22 days, exfiltrating data every 6 hours and NO ONE noticed. Worse, PingCap denies all of it. Average SRE salary is $300,000 at PingCap btw

The situation is getting worse every hour. AI agents are entering U.S. bank accounts, and banks are scrambling to shut them out. Axios reports that some appear to attempt actions beyond users instructions, raising fears over who is really in control.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

I should have added this to my review and thread on the 40B Flint model from Recursive (posted less than an hour ago). It compares how similar models in the same space do with coding in different programming languages.

There's a really cool science fiction novel - Blindsight by Peter Watts - where aliens (much creepier and more creative than Project Hail Mary's aliens) manipulate humans by moving only in intervals where humans can't consciously perceive them Blindsight deserves so much visibility for its creativity and its biological plausibility
seems like an overstated claim but very interesting experiment: if i understand correctly, you can see neurons rapidly switch back and forth between representations in time (rather than locality/averaging, as people assumed) of the 'seen' object and an unconcious one, like the optical illusion you're choosing to look at vs the other side of the illusion which you're not. this has some interpretation, which they seem to overstate, of some temporal nature or back-and-forth of conciousness

Should Europe leave frontier AI to the Americans and the Chinese? The idea has gained ground in Europe. It is a fundamental mistake. Build or surrender: for now, the choice is still ours. Full article below.

Many people just starting out on Lean formalization have enjoyed playing the Natural Numbers Game. Now Autumn Mapes has produced Visual Lean, isomorphic to the original but playable in a lovely intuitive way with clicking and dragging rather than typing. leangame.autumnofautumn.com/

🤩 The Brexit debate is moving very fast now. Bernd Lange, @berndlange chair of the European Parliament’s trade committee and a veteran of the Brexit negotiations, says Britain could move quickly into a *Switzerland plus* relationship with the EU. In other words, the choice is not simply: Hard Brexit forever or wait years for full re-entry. There are routes back towards deep economic integration much faster than that. And once again, the message from Europe is not stay away. It is: if Britain wants to come closer, the door is open.

More tribes than vibes Some important things are on here that are blanked on the other social places. Like mathematics and ai which has been big recently On the other hand the owner is rancid.

This is stupidly good, a MAJOR upgrade! Very fast, significantly larger kv-pool, and up to 1m context. (@MiaAI_lab's TensorFold recipe is 20% faster). Cognisant ability is looking excellent. I've tested 400k context with 56 tok/s (YaRN x2) and go up to 1m tonight.

We cannot physically serve a trillion agents with existing infrastructure. The world doesn't have enough CPUs, GPUs, power, or space. So we have two options: 1/ compress the workloads in software so agents do more with less 2/ or get more out of the hardware itself. Probably both. And faster than anyone’s current roadmap assumes.

Important complexity consequence of new claimed quasireimann (hexagonmath.org/2610.00200v1): Valiant's conjecture VP != VNP over the complex numbers follows from the boolean-complexity lower bound NP not in P/poly. Burgisser proved this under GRH. (🧵1/4)

we're so damn cooked 😭 google's gemini 4 argon just did something actually crazy for fusion energy in 1967 a physicist named harold grad guessed that the magnetic fields inside twisty fusion reactors could never be solved exactly. people believed him for 59 years last month two papers finally proved him wrong. one of them used openai's GPT-6 Astra then google deepmind gave that paper to a team of argon agents and they found a whole new family of answers nobody had. the first answers showed up in a few hours. the paper literally says "promising candidates appeared within hours" NOT YEARS. HOURS!!!! the scientists checked every step by hand and it held up 59 years of humans vs a few hours of AI???? it's over. ai won.
