Check out Tree-BTE 🌳, our new tree-based approach to designing batched threshold encryption (BTE), the cryptographic tool for encrypted mempools.
Tree-BTE can be instantiated with different cryptographic hardness assumptions to yield different properties. For example, with a lattice-based hardness assumption, we get a post-quantum secure BTE scheme with >100x faster decryption than prior lattice-based schemes.
Instantiations based on other assumptions (such as DDH, DCR, LWR) are also possible. Check out our paper on eprint.

At some point, we genuinely thought, “We didn’t expect it to be this big.”
For weeks, there were meetings, messages, lists, plans, last-minute changes, and dozens of details we were trying to keep up with.
There were moments when we wondered if everything would actually come together.
Then, on September 26, we walked into 42 Istanbul.
And after all those weeks, there we were; a room full of builders, people sharing ideas, teams writing code, and a community brought together by the same excitement.
That moment made all the exhaustion worth it.
Monad Blitz Istanbul is no longer just an event we planned. It’s a memory we created together.
As 42 Istanbul Blockchain Community, we’re incredibly proud to have been part of this and to see such an amazing community come together under one roof.
To everyone who showed up, built, supported, shared, networked, and made this day what it was, thank you 🙌
And of course, huge thanks to @monad_dev, @port_dev and @42inturkiye for making it possible.
This is only the beginning. 💜
And now, it’s time to announce the winners. 👀👇

I spent this @monad metropolis hackathon on Interlude, which is the Ephemeral Rollup
Kanddle is the app I built on it so you can watch the idea work, instead of reading a diagram.
The game is simple, two people open a 1v1 on Monad, lock the same stack, and tap squares on a tape. If the print hits your square you score. If it misses, you do not. When the clock ends, the higher stack takes the pot.
Do that on a chain the usual way and every tap is an L1 transaction. Even if the wallet is quiet, you still pay gas, you still wait on a block, and you still do not get the result back in the same breath. Twenty taps in ninety seconds becomes twenty confirmations. The match cannot live there.
Do that on a server and the match is instant, because the server is just editing a row. It can ignore a tap, rewrite a stack, or vanish and take the room with it. The chips may sit in a contract. The fight does not. You are trusting whoever runs the box.
The Ephemeral Rollup is the third path. Same Solidity, same address. You sign a session once. After that each tap is a real contract call on the node, both players share that state, and the node later commits the net diffs back to Monad. Fast while you play. Settled when it counts. If the node lies, the batch is replayable and the bond is there. v1 is still permissioned. I am not pretending otherwise.
That is why Kanddle exists. I needed a live room two people can actually play, and I needed the pot to stay in the contract they already deposited into. A raw chain breaks the room. A server breaks the pot. Interlude is the ER that lets both stay true.
The app is rough. Plenty still broken. If you want early access, say so in the comments.

Request for Projects: Monad Metropolis
Just sharing a few ideas I’d like to see people build during @monad's Metropolis.
I’m judging and mentoring so thought I’d put some of the things I’ve been thinking about into a Request for Projects format kind of like YC.
These are personal interests so feel free to take an idea from here and change it according to your direction.
1/ Onchain Finance & Trading
Very interested generally to see something build around undercollateralised lending.
Real businesses with customers always struggle to get working capital, all due to waiting on invoices and vendor credit, but they cannot wait to pay their team so I think there’s an opportunity to connect businesses like this with onchain capital willing to take credit risk.
A few directions:
- Take all the filings/income reports in a secure dump from the business and based on that, issue a credit against that keeping in mind a healthy LTV for the business. Definitely matters on the type of business but inference is intelligent enough to do the calculation on the go and maintain risk.
- A revolving line of credit is definitely interesting idea to build around, basically a business gets a limit, takes what it needs, repays and can borrow again. This is very useful for recurring expenses when revenue arrives unevenly for the business.
- An aggregator of undercollateralised lending venues. Borrowers are good in assessing risk and have their needs clear so this will help them make a qualified decision on their requirements. Kind of also like an RFQ for loans.
- 2/ Consumer Products & Payments
I think tokenised stocks are one of the strongest consumer use cases evolving lately onchain. The rails have gotten significantly cheaper and so there’s more room to connect ownership to everyday spending and usage.
- Subscriptions that buy you stock, so every time you renew a subscription (on or offchain), an amount you choose goes towards that company's stock. Lately a lot of projects seem to work around this direction, it's super personalised so worth exploring:
Example:
> Pay for Spotify, buy a little Spotify.
> Pay for Netflix, buy a little Netflix.
I’d like to see someone make that so I can use it haha!
- A portfolio around your evolving AI stack, this can be fun! For example, you set up a Meta Muse model, the agent adds some Meta stock. If you run models on NVIDIA hardware, it will add NVIDIA. If you play GTA VI, it gets some Rockstar stock. This can obviously be pretty configurable but builds a portfolio around your AI journey, which can be fun.
- A neobank specifically for entertainment. I’d maybe start with one situation where let's say you go to a festival with friends where it requires collecting money, buying tickets for all of them, pay for things from one place and easily settle at the end within the app, and it could become a neobank specifically for plans!
3/ Social, Attention & Culture
I think the reason @fomo is winning is due to the shareablility it commands with all the visual cues.
My request here is fairly specific - perps + social, directly on the chart.
- Drag and drop positions on the chart, your friends can directly interact, suggest TP/SLs and create their own position directly on top of yours. All with PnLs.
- AI has made generic UI so much easier to produce so I think there’s a lot of room for products with a different visual language. Trading is a great place to experiment because of its fast nature and instant returns.

Those are the ideas I feel would be interesting to build, so if you choose to build around these directions at Metropolis, feel free to reach out with questions or feedback!

What our hackathon taught us about the current state of agentic commerce:
TLDR:
Agentic commerce fully works. But for it to work at scale, agents need to be constrained so they act as intended.
Stablecoin cards are how agents touch the real economy today, and Rain's scoped cards ensure agents spend as instructed.
For agent-to-agent stablecoin payments, these constraints can be enforced at the smart contract level.
Here's what we observed over the weekend across dozens of teams building AI agents that complete purchases on their own:
🤖 Agents paid each other by the API call. We saw agents pay a few cents for trip recommendations, data lookups, or compute.
🏪 The moment an agent touched the real economy (booking travel, ordering pizza, buying a gift), it needed a scoped card. Cards were scoped to specific amounts and merchants, and expired within hours.
Agents made the decisions. Scoped cards enforced them.
Thanks to our co-hosts @monad + @encodeclub, our keynote speakers @TheOneandOmsy (@dragonflyvc) and @abimbhet (@FirstMarkCap), and our judges @sbilstein (@cursor_ai), @jarrodwatts (@monad), @BasriRoss, @Farhan_Khwaja, & Juan Blanco (Rain).
And thank you to every team who spent the weekend building with us!
