Mark Carney: The world is becoming more dangerous and divided.
Heckler: Bullshit!
Carney: Open your eyes. There are some outside our borders who are working to break us so they can own us. Never.

So…stay with me here…
@ABDanielleSmith should be updating her resume.
I have a lead on the perfect position for her.
Donald Trump needs a new Press Secretary.
Qualifications? Be able to speak incessantly, saying nothing, with a few lies thrown in.
Perfect.

Well Alberta, you have given this Canadian goosebumps many times over these last couple of days. Not in my lifetime have I seen the West so adamantly Canadian. No question where you stand.
And we stand with you! ❤️❤️❤️
Now, GO VOTE!!
Bury the bastards.

Mark Carney’s Thursday night Forever Canadian rally in Calgary speech transcript is now out. He was also in Red Deer with Premier Smith earlier today (Friday), and then spoke at a second Forever Canadian rally in Edmonton in the evening. Some memorable quotes:
✔️ He told the crowd of roughly 5,000 to 7,000 that the referendum comes at the worst possible time because the world has become more dangerous and divided.
✔️ “Some outside our borders are working to break us so they can own us.”
✔️ “At this pivotal moment, Albertans have a choice: to build a stronger Alberta and an even greater Canada to leave for our children, or to burden them with years of deep division and great uncertainty.”
✔️ “What we need is a decisive result on Monday that will settle this question.”
✔️ He warned against treating the vote as a way to send a message: “Don’t be fooled by the idea you can ‘send a message’ with your vote. This is not poker. A vote against Canada is a dangerous bluff that will lead to years of deep uncertainty and lost opportunities for Albertans and Canadians. Our country and your futures are too precious to play games with.”
✔️ “Let Alberta lead, not leave.”
✔️ He urged people to mark Monday on their calendar, show their pride, bring a friend, and “vote like Canada depends on it. Because it does.” Turnout will determine the outcome.
✔️ “Canada was never merely a bargain struck between provinces. It was never a series of transactions of gives and gets, of gross and net. Canada is a promise that is so much greater than the sum of its parts.”
✔️ He acknowledged real frustrations in Alberta, saying growing up he remembered how Ottawa made Albertans feel like their resources weren’t their own, and more recently that energy contributions were running against the tides of history.
✔️ He highlighted Alberta as the heart of nation-building projects, including the Pacific Link pipeline, housing, high-speed rail between Calgary and Edmonton, and defence investments.
The message stayed consistent with his earlier day remarks: stay in Canada, reject the idea of a soft or symbolic “send a message” vote, and treat the result as decisive.

As most already know, the vote includes a main question on whether the province should remain in Confederation or start the process toward a future binding separation referendum. Plus nine other questions pushed by Premier Danielle Smith on immigration and constitutional, provincial autonomy issues.
Carney is now explicitly urging Albertans to vote to remain in Canada and to reject the other nine referendum questions: “No to the Nine.”
✔️ He is urging Albertans to vote to stay in Confederation and remain part of Canada.
✔️ He is explicitly saying “Say no to the nine” and “No to the Nine,” telling people to reject the other nine ballot questions on immigration and the Constitution.
✔️ “It’s time for us to come together, stand up for ourselves and take care of each other.”
✔️ “There couldn’t be a worse time for this referendum. It’s a dangerous and divided world.”
✔️ “We are stronger together and Canada is worth fighting for.”
✔️ “Polls don’t vote. People do.”
✔️ “For those who are undecided, it’s hard to think of a worse time for a referendum or a better time for the province. The world is dangerously divided.”
✔️ “Canada is working.” He has pointed to federal and provincial projects such as housing, high-speed rail, and a pipeline to the West Coast, arguing “You can’t build big things on fault lines.”
✔️ “It’s for us. It’s all for Canada.”
✔️ “We’re making ourselves stronger as a country, stronger as Albertans,”.
He has framed the referendum as poorly timed given external pressures and has emphasized turnout, especially for those already decided.
These themes build on his earlier Thanksgiving message from Edmonton, in which he said generations of Albertans helped build the country, “It’s yours. It’s ours. And it’s worth fighting for,” and that division would hinder big projects.
The main evening speech at the Forever Canadian rally, organized by former Alberta deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk, was scheduled to begin around 6:45 p.m. MT. Live coverage has been available on CTV, CBC, CP24, and YouTube. Full verbatim text of the evening speech was not yet widely published in the reports available as of late evening EDT, but the day’s remarks and prior statements have been consistent on unity, rejecting the nine questions, and the costs of division.
Carney, who grew up in Edmonton, is also scheduled for events involving Premier Smith, including a Red Deer stop, and an Edmonton Forever Canadian rally on Friday.

Mark Carney on Pete Hoekstra's comments about Canada interfering in midterms: "He's wrong. And if interference in the US midterms is standing up for Canada and not accepting a deal that wasn't in the interest of Canada, that's an odd way to spin that."

I thought Mark Carney would make a great PM for this moment because he is a brilliant economist. What has been a very pleasant surprise is that as PM he is also an extraordinarily pragmatic visionary! He is the leader we need. Our job is to unite behind him and his government.
