When a participant delegates a task to an agent, they need to understand what they’re giving it permission to do. For example, asking an agent to arrange a trip could mean finding flights, comparing prices, or completing a booking. The participant should be able to specify the result they want and authorize the actions needed to achieve it. “Book this route for under $500, using this payment method, before Friday” gives the agent clear terms to work within. On MOI, a participant can be an individual, a group, or an organization. A registered agent acts on their behalf, under the terms they set. Someone using the application isn’t necessarily the participant the agent represents. Those terms can also change in real time. If the participant lowers the budget to $300 before a booking is authorized, MAL checks the proposed action against the updated limit. The participant understands what they’ve authorized, and the agent can carry out the task within those terms. If the requested outcome requires additional permission, that needs to be made clear so the participant can decide how to proceed
