🔬 LASER-SHARP RESEARCH | September 2026
Can bioluminescence activate photoimmunotherapy?
Researchers at Northeastern University & Cornell engineered immune cells to generate light and tested verteporfin activation in 3D ovarian cancer spheroids.
Bioluminescence remained below the effective cytotoxic threshold.
Meanwhile, conventional light activation with the ML6600 laser system delivered a clear, dose-dependent therapeutic response.
💡 Controlled light delivery matters.

🔬 LASER-SHARP RESEARCH
Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital & Harvard Medical School developed photoactivatable nanocarriers to improve treatment of antibiotic-resistant MRSA.
Using 690 nm light from Modulight’s ML6600, the approach enhanced minocycline activity.
Light activation promoted intracellular drug retention, increasing MRSA susceptibility to the antibiotic.
As antibiotic resistance grows, innovative light-activated therapies could help open new treatment possibilities.
