incredible post
new post: the senior engineer death spiral sunilpai.dev/posts/the-senio… a friend just started a big job and asked for some advice. so I braindumped a monologue about a super common failure mode I see with engineers and posted it here, hope it helps whoever it can.

Had so much fun playing around with Jev from @typesafeai. I know it's not trained for things like this, because solving tasks like that involving strategy, but it's a great way to get familiar with the model and its new primitives.

Image of the day. Roger Federer sitting by himself in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. He’s truly there just to watch some tennis. One of the most legendary athletes is also a true tennis fan at the root of it all. ❤️

Programming was deeply satisfying work to me. Work for hours/days before getting the payoff of the code working well on your machine. I’m feeling so much friction now to open the editor and do this kind of task by hand, but also increasingly depressed with the nature of work in an AI assisted dev workflow. Back and forth prompting seems to eat at my soul. Need to find a balance that brings back some of the toil.

AIs writing PR/issue descriptions that are overly long and contain tons of unnecessary detail are like dumb people who keep talking and using big words about bullshit that doesn't matter in an attempt to sound smart. Also, this is going to drive me to crash out.

It's awfully hard to accept I won't solve a hard problem in the time I hoped and just get some sleep and try again.

@kmdrfx funny enough, but it worked slept for 4 hours and suddenly fixed the biggest trouble of past days in 30 minutes using opencode btw:)

21 years of passion, flair and unforgettable moments. Gaël Monfils has left a lasting mark on tennis — and on every court around the world, where his energy and charisma lit up the crowd. In 2026, he’ll play his final season. But his legacy will live on forever. Enjoy every moment @Gael_Monfils ❤️
