A child asked me about my favorite season. I said Fall. He asked, “The colors?” I said, “No. It’s a reminder of the world we have left behind—one that has shed its goodness like the leaves you see. Everyone you know will weep and suffer as they are stepped upon as these leaves.”

Finished writing an article on Meccan (and by extension Saudi) urbanism and ended up creating an urban planning tool as an afterthought. Still improving this heavily to see where I can take it.

Interesting tweet to come across when you’re the one everyone comes to for pirated PDFs.
I should remind people in Islam piracy is technically haram as its considered stealing

Right up until the collapse of the USSR people were going with their lives as normal because it was impossible to think that the union could ever break apart. We presume continuity—we assume status quos will hold if we’ve seen them for long enough. But appointed times come.

Reading Ikenberry and it’s interesting to see how fears re: the collapse of liberal internationalism was there from much earlier within some circles as they saw fractures within the institutions holding the system together. But the masses will largely miss it as will journalists.

I wake up these days and open Claude and Muse. I sleep whilst reading and staring into Muse for the last time before waking up to it again. Working on some very interesting stuff.
Love Opus 5.5. Society will be objectively worse off for it but I’ll maximize it while there’s time.

LOL it’s funny just how much times have changed. Even a few years ago it’d have been unimaginable to live without stack overflow and now that entire website is just a dataset to train off of

People back home have an inferiority complex to those in the West. The West doesn’t have to be degenerate, but they’ll get the idea that it’s what “freedom” entails, and so when they come over they go to extremes that even degens born here here will raise an eyebrow at.
