Non French people can just translate this
» #Manifestationdu17

According to a new study Peter Guenter and Viacheslav Iurkov in the International Journal of Research in Marketing, approximately 70% of PR / seeding budgets are just PR giving stuff to their friends with zero (0) business value

I applied to a startup role recently. It’s a restaurant industry startup building an “exploration” dept aka doing field research & turning insights into opportunities. I am a senior ethnographic researcher + a chef who worked in the restaurant industry. But I was not a fit:
many such people exist but wouldn't actually get hired at these companies, because they don't fit the mould they're looking for

I've never witnessed what it's like to get an AI/bot booking a table as a restaurant before but here's one in a Bon Appetit vid. I would hang up real quick lol youtu.be/ECyqrLRmC70?si=4B3u…

I work at a restaurant that does events and we received some challenging last-minute requests from a client. We scrambled to fill them. I realized later that these requests were likely made by an AI agent, and that the human client might not have personally cared. This felt bad!

A few weeks ago @jbahrdestefano texted his Instinct agent and told it to find him a table at 4 Charles in New York. The bot went to work but overdid it: the constant API calls got JC's @resy account flagged for bot activity and they banned him. The whole episode went viral, and started off a bigger conversation about the emergence of personal AI agents and where they can go off the rails. There's little surprise as to why people might want to outsource some of these painful processes. Getting a table at a restaurant now requires navigating different credit card reward tiers and reservation platforms. Insurance, airline, and utility companies make talking to an actual person basically impossible. I get it. Turnabout is fair play. I knew that restaurant reservations were one of the major use cases for these pocket bots, but that the tech's impacts were going way beyond that. What happens when you try to take friction away or, more accurately, what happens when you shift friction away from yourself and onto someone else? Isn't there some joy in frustration? What happens when everything is sanded down to one smooth layer? I talked to some restauranteurs, including the folks behind Semma and Jean-Georges, the Resy co-founder @benleventhal, and JC—who was exceptionally thoughtful and reflective about the whole ordeal—to try and answer those questions for @CNN. cnn.com/2026/09/23/tech/ai-a…

one of the best thing about restaurant industry is that you can just kindly DM the chef owner building a high end restaurant in Dali, Yunnan, China, ask if they'd be interested in a short term contract and the next day you're going to the embassy to apply for a visa

And spaces / infrastructures btw. Ppl shit on nike a lot bc it’s cool to dismiss the big heads, but nike still do more than most of the useless hyped brands who do pop ups. The permanent space they just launched in London with Palace is just incredible. instagram.com/reel/DQcU2Y4CE…
