To whatever extent I have a clear understanding of dynamic programming and reinforcement learning, it is because of Prof. Dimitri Bertsekas’s textbooks and online lectures—may he rest in peace.

Alongside recent work trips to Aarhus, I visited a couple of churches (the city’s Cathedral and the Catholic Church of Our Lady, where the pictures are from). Perhaps because I’m not a frequent church attendee, I was impressed with the sculpted art, but also the organ and singing rehearsals that I ran into by chance. I can’t help but think that we (or, just I?) could use more of the aesthetic, serenity, and sense of community of these churches in more aspects of modern life.
